**Sri Aurobindo โ Birth Anniversary | 15 August**
Sri Aurobindo Ghose was a great Indian freedom fighter, philosopher, poet, spiritual thinker and yogi. Born on **15 August 1872 in Calcutta (Kolkata)**, his birth anniversary shares the same date as Indiaโs Independence Day.
He was educated in England, including at Kingโs College, Cambridge. After returning to India, he worked in Baroda and became actively involved in the freedom movement. He strongly supported **Swaraj, Swadeshi, national education and the boycott of foreign goods**. Through his writings and speeches, including his association with *Bande Mataram*, he inspired Indians to fight for freedom. He was arrested in the **Alipore Bomb Case** in 1908 and later acquitted.
In 1910, he moved to Pondicherry and devoted himself to spirituality. He developed the philosophy of **Integral Yoga**, focusing on the spiritual transformation of human life. His famous works include *The Life Divine, Savitri* and *Essays on the Gita*.
