In 2007 MADURAI SEED is duly registered as an "NGO" under the Indian Trust Act.
MADURAI SEED is a grass root non- profit organization founded in 1999 committed to promote the socially and economically disadvantaged people with special reference to children and Young People in Karumbalai and around Madurai of Tamil Nadu, India. The SEED represents the children and young people who are bursting with self potent. They need only nurturing soil, water and caring to let them grow and achieve greater heights.

Volunteers make a difference...
Nithila Kannan from California joined Madurai Seed as a volunteer and become one of the valuable part of our Seed family. She is in her Eleventh grade at Woodbridge High School in California. From June 17th to July 27th, she volunteered for class 4 in the evenings from 6 to 8 pm. 17 kids attended her everyday lessons and improved their English skill.
Nithila's calm and friendly nature kept children very much involved and engaged in all the indoor activities she conducted. She taught English and basic Maths for children. As she knows Tamil very well, it was great for them to learn subjects from her teachings. We hope she also gained a wonderful volunteering experience from here. With other teacher volunteers, she had small outing and fun time together.
Children from her class and other teacher volunteers shared their feedback on the final day of her volunteering. Also, children and young people gave their farewells to her through dance, songs, and games. Nithila with her mother Mrs. Geetha enjoyed it. Though it was hard to say Good bye to Nithila, we sent her off for a new and bright future.
Many thanks to Nithila for her 72 hours of successful completion of volunteering in Madurai Seed!! We wish her Good Luck always!!

Friends of Madurai Seed shares love, gifts, candies, food, and clothes for the children here. Abinav, a thirteen year old boy has shared KNOWLEDGE through donating books for children under his project "Books for All".
A nineth grade student Abhinav from Gems Modern Academy school in Dubai contacted us to meet the children and donate all his collection of books. With his parents, he visited Madurai Seed and interacted with children. He is such a responsible kid who collected books from his school, family and friends in his own and brought it in a big suit case. He liked talking with his peer group students here about his favourite cricket and music too.
Along with book donation, Abhinav's younger sister Megha, nine year old child in 4th grade has donated a wide collection of art materials for children from 1st grade to 5th grade here. Under the project "Art for All" from the same school "Gems Modern Academy - Dubai", Megha's work was very much appreciated by Madurai Seed family.
During reading session on weekends and holidays, Madurai Seed children will find these resources very much useful. Our sincere thanks to little Masters Abhinav and Megha for donating books and art materials. We also extend our thanks to Gems Modern Academy, Dubai for supporting such meaningful initiatives.

"Children's Savings Money Distribution"
Every child has a savings bank named Thenkoodu (Beehive) at Madurai Seed. In his/her account, child saves small penny everyday and it grows till the end of the academic year. The whole year's savings money is given back with interest money to the children.
The savings money for the year 2023-2024 was distributed on 17th July at Vandugal arangam. 114 children had savings bank account, among them 76 involved in regular savings.
Total amount in children's Thenkoodu bank: Rs. 36,465/
Total interest money provided by MS: Rs. 7,115/
Total amount provided to children: Rs. 43,580/
In each class, children participated in savings habit. Children from class 7 has come first in savings. They have saved Rs. 6,589/ and MS provided them additional interest money of Rs.1,316/ - total amount of class 7 children is Rs. 7,905/
Among 114 children, Hasini from class 2 has saved Rs. 5,857/ in her account. She came first in Savings! Her little hand hold the money bag with gifts from Madurai Seed.
The event was carried out by teacher volunteers with welcome speech by Pavithra, about Thenkoodu bank and its purpose explained by Jeeva, children lists reading by Loganayaki. The money was distributed by MSCF leaders Vishwa and Keerthana. They were honored with shawls.
Interns Nithila and Muthulakshmi took part in the event and distributed the prize money for class 7 students.
Children with their parents came and received the savings money. Snack and tea was provided for them. Additionally treat to their eyes - songs by Haribala and team, Hema and team and dance by volunteers Chithirai and team echoed the hall.
Successful savings happens for every child at Madurai Seed!!
