🧫 In microbiology, we use the term CFU (Colony Forming Units) instead of β€œexact bacterial cell count” because one visible colony may develop from a single bacterial cell or from a small cluster of cells growing together. 🦠

For this reason, accurate viable cell counting is usually performed using plates containing 30-300 colonies.

Plates with very few colonies may not represent the sample properly, while overcrowded plates can lead to counting errors and inaccurate estimations. πŸ”¬

Understanding these small details is important because CFU calculations are widely used in research, clinical microbiology, food safety, and pharmaceutical testing.
