~ Workshop on hands-on experiments with experimental demonstration ~
The tendency to study science is steadily declining. Earlier, it was believed that this trend was seen only in rural areas, but nowadays, even in urban regions, a growing disinterest in studying science is becoming evident. After passing higher secondary examinations, almost everyone is enrolling in some kind of professional course. Many students join reputed coaching centers where they merely memorize science and practice thousands of multiple-choice questions to clear major competitive exams. However, they fail to truly understand the core concepts of science from within.
Due to this lack of enthusiasm toward pure science, it has become increasingly difficult to find students enrolling in general degree science courses in colleges and universities. Seats remain vacant in almost every institution, and research activities are also on the decline. If this continues, the development of the fundamental branches of science will come to a halt. The stagnation of scientific progress would ultimately mean the stagnation of technology—and, consequently, the stagnation of our society’s overall advancement.
To address this issue, we felt that science education must be made more engaging. In other words, instead of learning science only from printed pages, if students could learn science through simple, hands-on experiments using easily available apparatus, their interest in science would increase. At the same time, their critical thinking and memory retention abilities would improve. Moreover, working in groups would help them develop leadership qualities.
For this reason, the initiative of hands-on science learning currently being adopted in both government and private schools is something we have begun to support and promote. As a result, not only will students find science more appealing, but understanding and remembering lessons will also become much easier. Ultimately, if students remain attentive in their studies and develop a thoughtful, scientific mindset, our nation will continue to progress.
So, let us all come together once again and take a step forward toward making our country one of the finest in the world.
