Believe it or not, there is no sound in space because there are no molecules there. Sound cannot travel through space since there are no molecules to travel through. Here on Earth, we have air molecules which vibrate to our ears.

Sound travels slower through the air than by water. In fact, the speed of sound via water is 4.3 times faster than by air. However, sound does travel far faster through steel than both air and water.

The term โ€œplasticsโ€ includes materials composed of various elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, chlorine, and sulfur. Plastics typically have high molecular weight. Plastics, also called polymers, are produced by the conversion of natural products or by the synthesis from primary chemicals generally coming from oil, natural gas, or coal.

Why do you think magnets stick? Magnets attract each other because they exchange photons or the particles that makeup light. But unlike the photons streaming out of a desk lamp or reflecting off of everything you see around you, these photons are virtual, and your eyes (or any particle detector) can't "see" them. They can, however, exchange momentum, and this is why they stick to things or repel them. When a kid throws a dodge ball, they're exchanging momentum with the ball, and the thrower feels a slight push back. Meanwhile, the target person feels the force of the ball, and (maybe) gets knocked over โ€” they are "repelled" from the thrower. With photons, the process can also happen in reverse, as though one kid reached out and grabbed the ball while the other was still hanging on to it, which would look like an attractive force.

Dry ice, sometimes called "cardice," is solid carbon dioxide.

It is extremely cold (-109.3ยฐF or -78.5ยฐC). At this temperature, dry ice sublimates from a solid-state into a gaseous-state or undergoes deposition from gas to solid. It must be placed in a high-pressure environment in order to form liquid carbon dioxide.

It is very important to be careful when handling dry ice.

โ€ข Contact with dry ice can result in frostbite and cold burns. Avoid allowing any direct contact between dry ice and the skin, eyes, or mouth.

Always use dry ice in a well-ventilated area. Although dry ice and carbon dioxide are nontoxic, since it can sink and displace air near the ground the use of dry ice may present a respiratory hazard. Also, when it mixes with the air, there's more carbon dioxide (less oxygen) in each breath.

โ€ข The first law of motion states that: an object at rest will stay at rest. An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Your soccer ball wonโ€™t move unless you kick it. Once itโ€™s flying through the air, it will continue flying through the air unless it is slowed down by air resistance, gravityโ€™s pull (it falls to the ground), or your foot or body making contact with it.
โ€ข The second law of motion states that: Acceleration occurs when a force acts on mass. The greater the mass, the more force is needed to cause acceleration. The harder you kick the soccer ball, the faster it flies (accelerates). The larger the soccer ball, the harder you must kick.
โ€ข The third law of motion states that: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. When you kick your soccer ball, it goes flying. As your foot comes back down, your body feels the force of the kick. You must move to keep your balance.
