ntur should be merged and a united College be started at Vijayawada. Accordingly, Noble College was closed in 1938, but the proposed College at Vijayawada did not materialize. During the 74 years of existence in the first phase, Noble College was the cradle for many great sons of India. Pattabhi Sitaramaiah, President of Indian National Congress, Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Founder of Andhra Bank, Sri.Mutnuri Krishna Rao - Freedom fighter and Editor Krishna Pathrica, Sri. Kasu Brahmananda Reddy - former Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Union Home Minister, Governor of Maharashtra, Sri. Koka Subba Rao, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court, Smt. Kamala Satyanathan, the first woman graduate from Madras University and also first Indian Woman English Novelist. Sri.Viswanadha Satyanarayana - veteran poet and Gnanapeet Awardee and host of others who occupied important positions in the state and Central Government. In May 1966 under the leadership of Rt. Anandarao Samuel the then Bishop in Krishna-Godavari Diocese, attempted to revive the College. The University and Government gave the approval and the College began functioning from July 1966 with Sri.A.F. Thyagaraju, M.A. (London) as its first Principal. The College was formally inaugurated on 27th August 1966 by Sri. Kasu Brahmananda Reddy the Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the former student of Noble College. Sri.B.V.Subba Reddy the then speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh & former student presided over the function. Professor K.R.Srinivasa Ayyangar, the then Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University delivered the inaugural address. In these 41 years,the College has been a leading educational institution, serving all sections of community. Post-Graduate Courses like M.Sc., (Mathematics) and M.Sc., (Chemistry) were started in the year 2003-2004. We hope that the College will grow from strength to strength catering to the contemporary needs in the field of education under the leadership of its Chairman and Correspondent Rt. Dr. Govada Dyvasirvadam, M.A., M.Th., Ph.D., who was the former student of the institution. The revived Noble College was affiliated to Andhra University up to 1985. From 1985-86 onwards it is affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University. Conformant of Autonomous Status :

In the affiliating system, the Colleges do not have the freedom to modernize their curricula or make them locally relevant where as autonomous Colleges have freedom to determine and prescribe its own courses of study and syllabi and to restructure and redesign the courses to suit the local needs and also to use modern tools of educational technology to achieve higher standards with greater creativity. The target of UGC is to make 10% of eligible Colleges autonomous by the end of X plan. Based on the recommendations of the expert committee, the University Grants Commission agreed to grant autonomous status to Noble College from a period of 5 years i.e., from 2005-2006 to 2010-2011. The Executive Council of Acharya Nagarjuna University accorded permission on 2nd August 2006. As the Academic year is already commenced it is proposed to implement Autonomous status to College from 2007-2008. The statutory bodies like Governing Body, Academic Council, Board of Studies, Finance Committee etc., are formulated in accordance with UGC guidelines affairs. In addition to the above statutory committees, non-statutory committees such as planning and Evaluation Committee, Admission Committee, Library Committee, Student Welfare Committee, Extra-Curricular Activities Committee, Appeals and grievances Committee, Academic Audit Committee, Sports and games committee, Examination Committee are formulated for meaningful decentralization of power. However self study report is being submitted based on the guidelines issued by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (Affiliated/Constituent Colleges) since only one semester students appeared for examination in autonomous mode and results are awaited. In order to enhance academic, administrative and financial ambience of institution and sustain quality education to students the college management decided to going for Assessment and Accreditation by NAAC, Bangalore. Accordingly the college applied for Institutional Eligibility for Quality Assessment on 22.09.2007 and NAAC, Bangalore awarded IEQA status as per Letter No. NAAC/SS/SR-AP/06908/2007 Dated 14th Nov, 2007. Self study report was prepared by a steering committee comprising of Dr. D. Nalini, Principal, Dr.D.Srinivasa Rao, Co-ordinator, Sri P. Samuel Banerjee, Smt.K.G.Karunasreee, Dr. T. Elisha Divakar, Sri M. James Subhakar, Sri.D.Charles, Smt. Mary Sujani Devi and Maj. Prasad as the members. The preparation of Self-Study Report has been a rewarding experience in the sense that it has provided us an opportunity for Self-introspection and in depth analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the college. We earnestly hope that this exercise would act as a road map for the development of the institution in future.
