*Celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day | 15th August 2026*

NCC HATIM Coy proudly organized the celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day on 15th August 2026 at HATIM Campus. The programme commenced at 7:00 AM under the chairmanship of ANO Lt. H. Lalrinawma.

The celebration began with the hoisting of the Indian National Flag by NCC HATIM Coy. As the National Anthem was played, all attendees paid their respects and saluted the National Flag. Prayers for the nation were offered by Miss Linda Chongthu in English, Dr. Lalrokhawma in Mizo, and Dr. John C. Lalduhsaka in Hindi.

Dr. R. Lalnunthara, Principal of HATIM, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of citizens in nation-building.

NCC cadets played a key role in organizing and conducting the programme, particularly in the flag-hoisting ceremony. The celebration concluded with the Lord’s Prayer and was attended by NCC cadets, hostellers, wardens, and the faculty members involved in the programme.

The programme served as a tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and reaffirmed the values of patriotism, unity, and service to the nation.

HATIM Observes National Anti-Ragging Day with Awareness Programme

In observance of National Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2026, the Anti-Ragging Cell of the Higher and Technical Institute, Mizoram (HATIM), in collaboration with DLSA, Lunglei, organised a short yet impactful awareness programme aimed at promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

The programme sought to reinforce the institute’s commitment to maintaining a ragging-free campus and to remind students of the importance of mutual respect, dignity, and responsible conduct within the academic community.

The session was led by Mr. R. Lalruatfela, Coordinator, Anti-Ragging Cell, HATIM.

The Resource Person, Mrs. Lalthansiami Hnamte, Senior Civil Judge, delivered an informative talk on the official norms and guidelines for preventing ragging, highlighting the legal and institutional consequences of engaging in such activities. She emphasised that ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and punishable under the law, and encouraged students to uphold the values of dignity, respect, and solidarity.

The programme was attended by 287 students from the 1st and 5th Semesters across various departments, reflecting the institute’s collective commitment towards creating a safe and harmonious learning environment.

On 23rd January, 2026 the NSS Unit Hatim, Red Ribbon Club Hatim, and Major Blood Bank Civil Hospital, Lunglei, jointly organized a blood donation camp on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
The program, held at the Hatim Auditorium, commenced with an inaugural address by Dr Rosangliana Khiangte, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club, Hatim. Followed by NSS orientation from Dr R. Lallianzela, Programme Officer, NSS HATIM.
Dr. Lallawmawma Khiangte then delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the significance of blood donation and its positive impact on human health. Following the national anthem and a ceremonial salute, the blood donation camp officially began.

A total number of 167 students and faculty underwent screening test.
The camp concluded with 67 male and 23 female donors(total : 90).

The RRC and NSS sincerely thank all the blood donors for there selfless contribution.

In the second session , the students visited High Power Committee (HPC), Chanmari, Lunglei, where the programme was conducted by Mr. Lalthlamuana, Private Secretary and Ms. P. Lalthangzuali.Students were briefed on the organization’s functions, ongoing activities, and its importance in the community. They also explained the roles of HPC and how the committee contributes to social welfare and public service in Lunglei district. The session included an interactive question and answer session where students cleared their doubts regarding the work of HPC.The programme concluded with the presentation of the college magazine and a Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. S. Zomuanpuia, BSW 1st Semester

A cash incentive award ceremony was conducted to recognise students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the previous End-Semester Examination for the January–June 2026 semester.
Two categories of awards were presented: the Star Student Award and the Class Topper Award, with a cash incentive of ₹1,000 for each award.

On 7 August 2026, the Department of Social Work, Higher and Technical Institute, Mizoram (HATIM) organized a workshop titled “Empowering Students: Mastering AI for Academic Excellence & Research” under the guidance of Dr. RTC Lalremruata.

The workshop featured two technical sessions conducted by Mr. H. Lalruatkima on “AI Usage Among Students: Enhancing Learning and Productivity” and Mr. R. Vanlalawmpuia on “AI Usage for Research: Tools and Applications.”

The programme included a welcome address by Dr. R. Lallianzela, the Principal’s Address by Dr. R. Lalnunthara, a keynote address by Dr. Rosangliana Khiangte, and an overview of the workshop by Ms. KH. Biakchamliani. Students actively participated in interactive discussions, a Q&A session, and hands-on AI activities.

The valedictory programme, conducted by Ms. Gabriella Lalremruati, included certificate distribution and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. C. Lalremtlunagi.

Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Knowledge Cell (EKC), HATIM, and the Relief & Development Department, BCM, successfully observed International Commerce Day 2026.

The programme featured INCENDE: A Workshop on Entrepreneurship, where participants gained valuable insights from our resource person, followed by an interactive Q&A session. The celebration continued with a vibrant Student Product Showcase, highlighting the creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit of our students.

Observation Visit – Day 2 (BSW 1st Semester)

On 29th July, 2026, the Department of Social Work continued its Observation Visit Programme.

The first session was conducted at Grace Society, Venglai, Lunglei, under the supervision of Dr. Rosangliana Khiangte and Dr. RTC Lalremruata. The programme began with greetings and an orientation by Ms. Laldinthari Ralte (Miss Dindini), Project Manager, who briefed the students on the functions, roles, and ongoing projects of Grace Society, explaining their aims, objectives, and beneficiaries. Students also had interactive sessions with Ms. Laldinthari Ralte, Project Manager, and Ms. Lalropuii, Counsellor. The session concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of the college magazine Dokimos to Ms. Laldinthari Ralte by Ms. Merilyn Lalmuanchhani, BSW 1st Semester.

In the second session, the students visited YMA Sub-Headquarters, Venglai, Lunglei, where the programme was conducted by Pu R. Lallawmkima, Finance Secretary. Students learned about the organization’s history, objectives, and activities, as well as its role in promoting unity, discipline, community service, disaster management, social work, and youth development in Lunglei district. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of the college magazine by Mr. Lalfelfamkima Chawngthu, BSW 1st Semester.

The third session was held at the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) Office, Venglai, Lunglei, under the guidance of Ms. Lalsiamthari Bawitlung. Officials introduced the Council’s structure, functions, responsibilities in urban planning, sanitation, and waste management, along with its welfare schemes, tax collection system, and community development programmes. An interactive session with Mr. Lalhmansanga, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Lalzuithanga, Chairman, highlighted the Council’s role in maintaining the drainage system and addressing citizen grievances. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the presentation of the college magazine by Ms. Christy Lalbiaknii, BSW 1st Semester.

INTERNATIONAL VIRTUAL TALK

IntroductionThe Department of English, HATIM, in collaboration with the Academic and Career Guidance Cell, successfully organized an international virtual talk on 27th July 2026 at 11:00 AM at the HATIM Conference Hall. The talk was delivered by Dr. Wendy Lalhminghlui, Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Bern, Switzerland. The event was attended by faculty members, students, and participants joining virtually from different locations.The theme of the talk was “The Phonetics status of Mizo and ”, which aimed to create linguistic awareness about the Mizo language and to provide academic insight into its phonetic features for students and researchers.
The program began with a welcome address followed by an introduction of the speaker by the Moderator, Miss Remruatpuii. The speaker, Dr. Wendy Lalhminghlui, was introduced as a distinguished linguist and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, Switzerland, known for her work in phonetics and Mizo language studies.
Dr. Wendy Lalhminghlui delivered a detailed presentation on the phonetic properties of the Mizo vowels and in attempting to debunk the misconception of Mizo vowels that surfaced within the Mizo youth earlier last year. Students and faculty engaged in a Q&A session where Dr. Wendy addressed queries related to fieldwork, research methodology, and career opportunities in linguistics abroad.
The session concluded with a brief vote of thanks proposed by the moderator. The speaker was felicitated and appreciated for sharing her expertise and for connecting students at HATIM with international academic research.The event successfully achieved its objective of exposing students to global research on the Mizo language and inspiring them to pursue careers in language, linguistics, and academia.

Observation Visit

Day 01 - On 22nd July, 2026, the Department of Social Work started the Observation Visit Program for 1st semester, BSW as per the UG syllabus. Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM) Headquarter Office and SAKHI One Stop Centre were visited under the supervision of Dr. R . Lallianzela, Hod and Ms.KH Biakchamliani, Fieldwork Coordinator.
In the first session, BCM Headquarter office was visited under the guidance of Mrs. Vanlalpeki Ralte (Miss Temami), Personal Assistant to General Secretary
Here, students were briefed on the important functions and roles of various departments. Also, the students were exposed to BCM Archive where historical documents and materials were explained and displayed.

During the visit students had the privilege to have interactive sessions both with Rev R Lalrintluanga, Associate General Secretary (Mission) and the Rev Vanlalmuankima, Associate General Secretary (Service).
Towarda the end of the program exit meeting was held at BCM Hall where Rev. R.C. Lalthanzama, Director i/c Education, Social concern and Relief and Development Department) delivered motivational speech and offered special prayers for the students. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and presentation of college magazine (Dokimos) to Mrs. Vanlalpeki Kawlni by Ms. R. Lalhruaizeli, Assistant Class Representative.

In the second session, the students visited SAKHI One Stop Centre located at Serkawn, Lunglei. The program was conducted by Ms. Laldanmawii, System Administrator, SAKHI One Stop Centre. The centre provides comprehensive support services for women and children. The staff warmly received the students and teachers and provided relevant and important information. The seasion also included presentation of case summaries of the clients.
The program concluded with vote of thanks and presentation of college magazine by Mr Rinsangzela, Class Representative. Later, the students were taken on a tour of the Client Room, Counselling Room, Security Room, and the Centre’s Administrative Room.
Observation Visit is scheduled on every Wednesday covering 10 selected NGO and welfare agencies across Lunglei town.
