Established in the year 1974, DIET Lunglei began its journey as Teacher Training Institute (TTI) and later upgraded to District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in the year 1993. Since its inception, the institute delivered professional training to countless number of in-service teachers and contributed immensely in improving education scenario especially at the elementary stage. As the
only professional Institute for in-service and pre-service teachers in the District of Lunglei and due to the increasing awareness of the importance of becoming a trained teacher, currently, the number of candidates seeking admission is swelling. Located amidst the peaceful surroundings of nature at Melte, in the Serkawn neighborhood, DIET is an ideal place to learn where trainees and staff enjoy the pleasant Serkawn weather all year round, not to mention the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, beautiful scenery and birds singing while walking through the campus. Away from the hustle and bustle of Lunglei town, the remote country area, yet easily accessible proves to be a healthy and harmonious center of professional training. The Institute commits itself to equip the student-teachers with the skills and knowledge of becoming a successful professional teacher. It is our constant endeavor to empower teacher aspirants with knowledge of the subject-matter and pedagogic skills and effective transaction of the skills in and outside calssroom situations. We aim to build self-confidence among the student-teachers and develop the right attitudes towards teaching. The College is striving hard to make the best possible efforts to inculcate strong values, positve emotions, resilience, ethical decision making, originality, exhibiting creativity, innovative endeavor, critical thinking, confidence, collaborative learnig and positive relationship with the community, to name a few. We set high expectations for our trainees and work hard to create a supportive and inclusive environment where trainnes explore their potential and chieve their personal best perfomance and become career ready. We believe in continous learning for our staff to increase and expand their knowledge and to keep abreast the latest trend, methods and policy in the field of education. Our staff attend and participate in the in-service training program provided for them by the SCERT, Mizoram University and other Agencies from time to time, realizing the stake to be stuck in the rut and work hard to further strengthen our excellent teaching. We always try to demonstrate ongoing professional growth in order to increase the quality of instructions. We also develop and sustain productive partnership with other educational institutions and colleges.
