Students of GNDEC School of Architecture, one among the top eight national finalists of the prestigious 'Beyond Dimensions with Gyproc 2.0' Design Challenge, participated in the Grand Finale, which was held on 07th May, 2026 in Mumbai.
Bhoomika Sharma and Joy Goel, students of architecture at GNDEC, Ludhiana, have earned this distinguished recognition through a rigorous national-level evaluation process that saw participation across all the colleges spanning the length and breadth of India. Their selection as National Finalists is not merely a personal triumph β it is a landmark moment for the institution, for Ludhiana, and for the state of Punjab, signalling the emergence of a formidable new generation of design talent from this part of the country.
The two finalists, who represent their institution under the dedicated mentorship of Ar. Vivek Sehgal, Associate Professor at GNDEC School of Architecture, and the inspiring guidance of Prof.Akanksha Sharma, Head β GNDEC School of Architecture, designed a healthcare dental clinic that immediately caught the attention of the distinguished jury. Their project reimagined a healthcare dental clinic through the intelligent integration of Gyproc's advanced drywall and plasterboard systems β producing a design that is simultaneously aesthetically compelling, structurally intelligent, and environmentally responsible."
The Beyond Dimensions with Gyproc 2.0 challenge by Gyproc India, a flagship brand of Saint-Gobain, co-powered by Ethos Empowers, invited budding architects and designers to innovate with advanced plasterboard systems. Entries were judged on originality, functionality, and sustainability, with only eight teams reaching the finale. Gyproc India has supported finalists with air travel and stay. Bhoomika Sharma and Joy Goel have received the IGBC Certification Course on Green Built Environment, boosting their careers in sustainable design.
Dr.Sehijpal Singh, Principal-GNDEC, appreciated the outstanding achievement of the whole team at a national-level competition. He further stated that their success has brought great honour to the institution and inspires the entire academic community to aim higher.
