WHEN IMTIAZ ALI MET KARAN JOHAR....
is how i would slot the latest Imtiaz creation Jab Harry Met Sejal. Reason for this being that when a creative director decides to go mainstream,has stars in the caste, and is worried about how the aam mainstream cineplex audience is going to react to his work.....it becomes a task, where the victim is creativity....the problem is that mainstream hopes for a defined plot,while the arty types desire complexity and abstraction......my understanding is that though everyone has tried very hard i.e Imtiaz, Shahrukh and Anushka, the movies misses out on the spontaneity of a Jab we Met, Love Aaj Kal and a Highway....All the same ,may see it as it Gives you a virtual tour of a proposed European Holiday.....with a story that is not very linear...typical Imtiaz stuff, since many movies have already covered this journey....it does not hold interest....and maybe the editor should have prevailed on the director and made in 15 minutes shorter, but as you will appreciate our writers have also passed our university exams, so they decide to fill the complete examination sheet, to give that bhara bhara feeling to the examiner......do not go to see it with the expectations of the best Imtiaz Ali film...
