"The Four Pillars of EQ"
1. Self-Awareness
2. Self-Management
3. Social Awareness
4. Relationship Management
Self-awareness is the ability to recognize your own emotions and understand what triggers them. It involves knowing your own feelings and emotional triggers and recognizing patterns in how you react.
Self-management is the ability to control your emotional reactions and responses. It means being able to control impulses, adapt to changing situations, and choose how you react, often by pausing and allowing time to decide on a calm response.
Social awareness involves understanding others by paying sincere attention to them. It requires noticing others' emotions, picking up on body language and tone, and actively seeking to understand their perspective rather than merely feeling their feelings.
Relationship management focuses on building strong and positive relationships. This involves maintaining healthy interpersonal dynamics, adapting your communication style depending on the situation while staying authentic, and managing conflicts in a positive and respectful way.

AI is an Ally!
Job seekers can harness AI to boost their job search, skill enhancement, and build their social capital.
Use AI to tailor resumes and cover letters for ATS compatibility while showcasing personal strengths.
Use platforms like LinkedIn and Indeed which use AI to match candidates with opportunities.
AI tools can also be used for interview prep and networking. Generate practice questions, analyze responses, and draft outreach messages using AI.
AI is also a great tool for learning and upskilling. Use AI to generate learning content in high-demand areas like coding, machine learning, data analysis, soft skills and other relevant skills.
By treating AI as a tool that streamlines routine tasks and enhances human potential, job seekers can stay competitive in a market where 80% of employers value AI literacy. The key is to move from seeing AI as a threat to using it as a strategic advantage.

In Task 2, planning becomes even more important because the essay is longer and requires a logical flow. Students who skip planning usually end up repeating ideas, going off-topic, or running out of time.
Here’s the simple trick: spend 5 minutes building a skeleton outline before you start writing. This outline is nothing more than one line for each part of the essay.
Essay Question:
Some people think the best way to reduce crime is to give longer prison sentences. Others, however, believe there are better ways to reduce crime. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
Plan (One line per point):
Introduction: Paraphrase the question + say you will discuss both views.
View 1: Stricter punishment can act as a deterrent.
View 2: Education and rehabilitation work better in the long term.
Opinion: I believe prevention through education is more effective.
Conclusion: Summarise both views and restate your opinion.
Now, instead of struggling while writing, you just expand each line into 3-4 sentences with examples, facts, or explanations. The essay stays focused, structured, and easier to write under exam pressure.
So, 5 minutes of planning can save you from 35 minutes of stress and confusion.

Identifying your unique value is the first step in building a powerful personal brand. It starts with figuring out what makes you special and better than the alternatives.
There are many tools for this, however, I will start with the “Peak-Experience” Exercise. It is a self-reflection tool often attributed to management guru Peter Drucker. This tool helps you identify your natural strengths, what truly energizes you, and what makes you uniquely effective.
Think of 3-5 specific times in your life (personal or professional) when you felt truly excellent. You were performing at your peak, felt a sense of accomplishment, and were genuinely proud of the outcome.
It could be leading a challenging project, solving a complex problem, helping someone, or mastering a skill.
For each "peak experience," ask yourself:
What was the challenge or situation?
What did you specifically do?
What skills, talents, or knowledge did you use?
What was the ultimate outcome or impact?
Find the Patterns
Look across all your detailed peak experiences and the patterns:
What recurring skills did you use (e.g., problem-solving, communication, organizing, empathizing)?
Were there specific types of challenges you handled?
Do you prefer working alone, in a team, or leading?
What kind of environment brings out your best?
What kind of impact do you consistently make?
Based on these patterns, you can clearly identify your unique strengths and what truly drives you. You can then consciously seek out opportunities that align with these insights.

Personal branding isn't just a buzzword. It's your most strategic career asset. It's who you are, what you stand for, and the value you bring. And in a digital world, it's not a luxury—it's a necessity.
Here’s why building yours is non-negotiable:
Get Noticed & Hired
A strong brand makes you stand out. Your profile and content are often the difference between an interview and being overlooked.
Builds Trust
Sharing your knowledge consistently shows your expertise. People trust, hire, and recommend those they see as credible.
Your Competitive Edge
Everyone has similar skills. Your unique story, personality, and values are what make someone choose YOU.
Grow Your Network
A clear brand attracts the right people. It opens doors to collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities you didn't know existed.
Your brand is the story people tell about you when you're not in the room.

A new global study covering 14.5 million students across 61 countries has revealed a concerning link between increasing temperatures and declining academic performance.
Even moderate heat (above 80°F) significantly impacts students’ ability to focus, retain information, and solve complex problems—particularly in subjects like mathematics. These effects are not limited to exam days; they accumulate over the academic year, reducing overall learning outcomes.
The study highlights an urgent need for climate-resilient schools. Effective solutions include improved classroom ventilation, access to cooling systems, and increasing green cover around schools.
The future of education depends on how well we respond to this emerging challenge.

Fluency refers to your ability to speak smoothly and continuously, without excessive pauses, repetition, or self-correction. The key is the nature of any hesitation you might have.
A Band 9 fluent speaker might say,
"Well, that's an interesting question... I suppose the most significant environmental challenge we face today is undoubtedly climate change, given its far-reaching implications globally."
The pauses are natural, for thought, not for searching for words.
Coherence refers to the logical organization and connection of your ideas, making your speech easy to follow and understand. This involves using linking words and phrases effectively and developing your topics thoroughly.
When asked about a hobby, a Band 9 coherent speaker might respond:
"I'm quite passionate about photography, and specifically, landscape photography. Initially, I just took photos with my phone, but then, as I became more interested, I invested in a proper camera. Consequently, my understanding of composition and lighting has significantly improved. Furthermore, it's a fantastic way to experience nature, as it compels you to really observe your surroundings."
Notice the range and appropriate use of cohesive features, and how the topic is developed.
