Dr Gosal Unveils DMCH’s Rs 6-Crore Scholarship Framework

The Scholarship Policy of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) for the academic year 2026-27 was released today at the Committee Room of the Vice Chancellor, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice Chancellor, PAU, and Chairman of the DMC&H Scholarship Committee, presided over the function.

Worth Rs 6 crore, the policy extends financial support across MBBS, Nursing, Allied and Healthcare, and Physiotherapy programmes. It brings together merit, means and employee-ward categories, along with dedicated provisions for wards of defence personnel and a scholarship reserved for the single girl child. Annual merit and sports awards for existing students have also been woven into the framework, ensuring recognition continues well beyond admission.

Terming the policy a milestone in institutional commitment to deserving students, Dr S.S. Gosal noted that it strengthened the balance between merit and accessibility. He observed that talented students, irrespective of financial background, deserved a fair opportunity to pursue quality medical education, and expressed confidence that the scheme would elevate the academic ecosystem of DMC&H.

Describing the policy as a reflection of the institution's long-standing philosophy of nurturing talent responsibly, Mr Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, credited the vision of the Managing Society for sustaining a transparent and merit-driven process. He stated that the scholarship framework would continue to evolve in keeping with the aspirations of students and the needs of the healthcare sector.

Calling the initiative a significant step toward strengthening the culture of academic excellence within the institution, Dr Gurpreet Singh Wander, Principal, DMC&H, and Visiting Professor PAU, remarked that the scholarship scheme would encourage healthy competition among students while easing the financial burden on deserving families. He further added that such measures were essential to building a generation of truly compassionate and capable doctors.

The Scholarship Committee, reconstituted under Dr Gosal's chairmanship, includes Mr Mukesh Kumar as Convenor and Treasurer of the DMC&H Managing Society, and Mr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, DMC&H, as Special Advisor. Members drawn from academia, administration and industry lend the committee a balanced and credible character.

Also present at the release were Dr Ashima Taneja, Additional Medical Superintendent and Professor and Head, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DMC&H, and senior officers of the university. The programme was coordinated by Dr Vishal Bector, Associate Director, Institutional Relations, PAU, who anchored the proceedings and extended the vote of thanks.

The revised policy supersedes all earlier versions and will govern scholarship disbursement for the coming academic session.

ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਵਿਖੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ 2026-27 ਲਈ ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਵੱਲੋਂ 6 ਕਰੋੜ ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਫੈਲਸ਼ਿਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ| ਇਸ ਦਾ ਐਲਾਨ ਅੱਜ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਅਤੇ ਡੀ ਐੱਮ ਸੀ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਈ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ| ਇਹ ਫੈਲੋਸ਼ਿਪ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਇਕਲੌਤੀ ਲੜਕੀ ਵਰਗ ਵਿਚ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ| ਮੈਰਿਟ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿਚ ਉੱਘੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੇ ਹੱਕਦਾਰ ਹੋਣਗੇ|
ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਨ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕਰੇਗਾ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹੋਣਹਾਰ ਪਰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਬੱਚੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਆਰੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਬਣਨਗੇ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਨਾਲ ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦਾ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਵੀ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਣੇਗਾ|

ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਬਿਪਿਨ ਗੁਪਤਾ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਪਸੀ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਉੱਚ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ ਆਰੰਭੀ ਹੈ| ਸਿਹਤ ਖੇਤਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਲੋੜਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੇਗੀ|
ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਾਂਡਰ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਸਕੀਮ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਹਤਮੰਦ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਰੀਆ ਕਿਹਾ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੋਝ ਬਣੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ| ਡਾ. ਗੋਸਲ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਹੇਠ ਸਕਾਲਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਗਠਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਜਿਸਦੇ ਕਨਵੀਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਖਜ਼ਾਨਚੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਮੁਕੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਹੋਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ ਡਾ. ਸੰਦੀਪ ਕੌਸ਼ਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਲਾਹਕਾਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਨਿਭਾਉਣਗੇ| ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸਨਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਹੋਰ ਨਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ|

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਡਾ. ਆਸ਼ਿਮਾ ਤਨੇਜਾ ਦਇਆਨੰਦ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਅਤੇ ਹਸਪਤਾਲ ਦੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਉੱਚ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ| ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਡਾ. ਵਿਸ਼ਾਲ ਬੈਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ|

PAU CELEBRATES 80TH INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH GUSTO

Carrying the torch of independence forward, the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) celebrated the 80th Independence Day with gaiety and gusto.
Extending heartiest greetings on the auspicious occasion, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, unfurled the national flag, making a stronger call for upholding the liberty, equality and fraternity in the country. He saluted the freedom fighters for freeing the country from servitude and enabling India attain its nationhood; as well as the farmers for helping India get rid of hunger and starvation through ushering in of ‘Green Revolution’ and food security. Stating that PAU scientists and students have excelled in their domains nationally and internationally, PAU VC made a greater call for resolving agriculture and farmers’ problems collectively. Lined-up top NIRF ranking of PAU during the last three consecutive years has strengthened the national and global image of PAU, thus, making it the most preferred agricultural educational institution for youngsters, he observed. Further, Dr Gosal called for focusing on Artificial Intelligence, precision farming, sensor-based agricultural technologies, and on a whole, digitization of agriculture to combat the crop-, climate- and water-related challenges. He also underlined the need for going in for skill-oriented trainings to venture into startups and entrepreneurship for self-reliant India.
Welcoming the dignitaries, faculty and the NCC cadets, Dr KS Suri, Director Students’ Welfare, called the youth “future and pride of this country.” Safeguarding farmers’ and citizens’, state’s and nation’s interests rests on Gen Z’s shoulders, observed he, while asking the youths to work harder and with unwavering spirits towards nation-building. Dr Suri also highlighted the accolades won by PAU students in co-curricular activities – art, literature, music, dance, theater and culture as well as sports.
While proposing a vote of thanks, Dr Rishi Pal Singh, Registrar, paid rich tributes to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the nation. He also lauded the patriotic fervor among the faculty members and the students of PAU, thus, sending a strong message of immersion in pride on the Independence Day.

ਅੱਜ ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਦੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਹੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ 80 ਵਾਂ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦਿਵਸ ਬੜੀ ਸ਼ਰਧਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਝੰਡੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਹਿਰਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਲਾਮੀ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਰਸਮ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਨੇ ਕੀਤੀ। ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਈ ਏ ਐਸ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਮੂਹ ਉੱਚ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ, ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ , ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ।

ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ, ਦੇਸ਼-ਭਗਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਤਮਸਤਕ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਮੌਕਾ ਕਿਹਾ , ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੀਆਂ ਬਦੌਲਤ ਅੱਜ ਦੇਸ਼ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਰਕਤਾਂ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸਲਾਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਨਾਜ ਦੇ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮ-ਨਿਰਭਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੁਪਨਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਤ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਡਾ ਫਰਜ਼ ਹੈ। ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਰੀ ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤੀ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਾਜ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਸਵੈ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਭੋਜਨ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਹੱਲ ਲੱਭ ਕੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀੑ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਪੱਧਰ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਜਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਰੈਂਕਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਤੀਜੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਾਜ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਿਖਰਲੀ ਰੈਂਕਿੰਗ ਤੇ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਕਿਸਾਨੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਲਈ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਸ ਸਫਲਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਤਮਾਮ ਅਮਲੇ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ।

ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ ਰਿਸ਼ੀਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਬਦਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਹੁਣ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਰਵਾਇਤੀ ਹਲ ਵਾਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹੀ, ਸਗੋਂ ਇਹ ਹਾਈ-ਟੈਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਬਦਲ ਰਹੇ ਜਲਵਾਯੂ, ਘਟ ਰਹੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਪੱਧਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਦੀ ਸਿਹਤ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ, ਪੀ ਏ ਯੂ ਬਦਲ ਰਹੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਦਮ ਨਾਲ ਕਦਮ ਮਿਲਾ ਕੇ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਾਲ ਖੇਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਰਟੀਫਿਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ, ਡਰੋਨਜ਼, ਸੈਂਸਰ- ਬੇਸਡ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਸੀਜ਼ਨ ਫਾਰਮਿੰਗ ਵਰਗੀਆਂ ਨਵੀਨਤਮ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਮੰਤਵ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਥਿਕ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਲਾਹੇਵੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਪੱਖੋਂ ਟਿਕਾਊ ਬਣਾਉਣਾ ਹੈ।

Teej Celebrations Bring Punjabi Heritage and Womanhood into the Spotlight at PAU

The Directorate of Student Welfare, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), hosted a vibrant celebration of Teej on August 13, bringing alive the colours, rhythms and rich cultural traditions associated with the festival. The celebration, held under the able mentorship of Dr Kamaljeet Singh Suri, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, brought together students, faculty, staff and University officers in a joyous tribute to Punjabi heritage and the spirit of womanhood. The guests were welcomed under the traditional phulkari canopy, to the accompaniment of dhol and giddha boliyan.

Expressing his delight on the occasion, the Chief Guest, PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal said, “Teej symbolises devotion, marital bliss and cultural heritage. Its celebration promotes cultural inclusivity and provides a platform for students to experience and share the richness of Punjabi traditions.” He added that Teej was more than a festival - it was a celebration of culture, unity and the bonds of camaraderie among women. Dr Gosal also highlighted the achievements of empowered women who have contributed to social transformation, adding that the University’s Teej celebrations were a tribute to the spirit of womanhood and the special place accorded to women in Punjabi society and culture. Dr Gosal’s affectionate address won the hearts of young girl students of the university, for whom PAU is yet another home.

The celebration was graced by noted artist Ms Neelu Sharma, District Attorney Legal, with the Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar. She was accompanied by Ms Neelam Pathak, District Attorney, Sangrur, and Ms Satbir Kaur. The iconic Punjabi artist and performer, Ms Neelu Sharma, the heartthrob of millions of Punjabis, was the guest of honour. Her soulful and heartfelt talk on women being the pillars of the family and society since times immemorial, captivated the audience and added a deeply nostalgic Punjabi flavour to the festivities. She also mesmerised the audience with her elegant dance moves on songs from one of her earlier albums.

Dr Rishipal Singh, Registrar, marked his special presence at the Teej festivities along with his life partner, Dr Savita Singh. While wholeheartedly appreciating the enthusiastic participation of students in the Teej celebrations, Dr Rishipal Singh said, “Teej is a beautiful expression of Punjab’s rich cultural heritage and it is heartening to see our students actively participating in preserving and celebrating Punjab’s vibrant cultural heritage.”

Visibly delighted at the sight of vibrant Teej celebrations, Dr Savita Singh shared how privileged she felt to be a part of the festivities that beautifully celebrate womanhood, sisterhood and the rich cultural traditions of Punjab. “It is wonderful to see these traditions being kept alive with such enthusiasm by the young generation”, she added.

The special invitee at the Teej function was Dr Nirmal Jaura, Ex-Director Students’ Welfare. Deans, Directors and Officers of the University – Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, Colleges of Basic Sciences and Humanities & Community Science; Dr Pavneet Kingra, Dean, College of Agriculture; Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director, Extension Education; Dr Prabhjot Singh Sandhu, Additional Director Extension Education; Dr Yogita Sharma, University Librarian; Heads of Departments; and faculty also joined the celebrations, making the occasion a true celebration of community and camaraderie.

The campus resonated with the soulful strains of Punjabi folk music, the energetic beats of dhol, and spirited performances of giddha, kikli and traditional Punjabi dances. Colurful peeng, mehndi stations, displays of ethnic attire and an array of festive delicacies, including kheer, malpuras and pakoras, added to the festive fervour.

A major attraction of the celebrations was “Teeyan di Rani”, a competition showcasing the grace, confidence and cultural awareness of PAU’s girl students. Dressed in traditional Punjabi attire and jutti, the contestants adorned themselves with traditional ornaments such as saggi-phull, tikka, churiyan and jhanjar, and gracefully walked the ramp while performing on Punjabi boliyan.

The distinguished jury for the competition comprised Dr Devinder Kaur Dhatt, Dr Manpreet Kaur Virk and Dr Daljeet Kaur, eminent academicians who have devoted decades to Punjabi literature, art, culture and heritage. Questions on Punjabi rural life, heritage, customs and traditional vocabulary were posed to the contestants as well as the audience, providing an engaging opportunity to reconnect with the rustic Punjabi bhasha and cultural expressions that are gradually fading from everyday use.

The programme was seamlessly coordinated by Dr Rupinder Toor, Associate Director, Culture, and S. Satvir Singh, Registering Officer. Dr AshooToor, President, University Speakers’ Forum; Dr Anureet Chandi; and Dr Divya Utreja conducted the stage proceedings with warmth. Later, tokens of appreciation were awarded to the distinguished guests and jury.

The formal programme eventually gave way to an exuberant celebration as students and faculty members took to the floor, dancing to Punjabi music and performing giddha. With inhibitions set aside, the PAU community joined together in a spontaneous celebration of youth, friendship and Punjabi spirit.

MOHINDER SINGH RANDHAWA LIBRARY, PUNJAB, AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY, LUDHIANA, CELEBRATES NATIONAL LIBRARIAN’S DAY

On the occasion of National Librarians' Day- the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan One-day workshop on "Changing Landscapes in Agricultural Research and Information Management: From AI Discovery to Ethical Synthesis was organized by Mohinder Singh Randhawa Library, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, in collaboration with Agricultural Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU), ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, at Dr. Manmohan Singh Auditorium, PAU. The workshop was organized under the scheme of E-Granth funded by the Division of Agricultural Education, ICAR, New Delhi.

The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address and brief about National Librarians' Day by Dr. Yogita Sharma, University Librarian, PAU. Dr. Amrender Kumar, Principal Scientist ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, gave an overview of the workshop.

Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Deputy Director General (Retd.), National Informatics Centre, Delhi, graced the occasion as Guest Speaker, while Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, was the Chief Guest. The workshop aimed to sensitize librarians, researchers, and academicians about the role of Artificial Intelligence in agricultural research, digital repositories, and ethical information synthesis.

The workshop was attended by more than 150 library professionals, faculty, research scholars and students of PAU. The event was moderated by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Associate Librarian. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sunit Bala, Associate Librarian, PAU.

Deeksharambh Programme Organised at College of Agriculture, PAU

The Deeksharambh – Student Induction Programme was organised at the College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), from July 28 to August 11 for the newly admitted students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, B.Tech. Biotechnology and B.Tech. Food Technology programmes.

The programme was organised under the able guidance of Dr Charanjit Singh Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture. Dr KS Sanga and Dr GK Gill served as Class Incharges for B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, while Dr Aman Mittal and Dr Kamaljeet Kaur served as Incharges for B.Tech. Biotechnology and B.Tech. Food Technology, respectively. Dr Pankaj Kumar coordinated the programme at college level.

During the programme, Dr Aulakh interacted with the newly admitted students and deliberated upon the academic opportunities, institutional values, responsibilities and expectations associated with being a student of PAU. He encouraged the students to make the best use of the academic, research, extracurricular and other learning opportunities available at the university and emphasised the importance of discipline, hard work, innovation and holistic development.

A wide range of academic, creative and interactive activities was organised to familiarise students with the academic environment, institutional values and campus life at PAU. The programme included expert lectures, along with competitions in poster making, notice board decoration and reel making. These activities provided students with opportunities to showcase their creativity while developing teamwork, communication and presentation skills.

Students also participated in reflective journaling, enabling them to reflect on their experiences, learning and expectations during the induction programme. On the concluding day, a feedback session and assessment test were conducted to assess the students' learning and obtain their suggestions regarding the programme.

The programme concluded with the felicitation of the winners of various competitions, recognising their creativity, enthusiasm and active participation. The Deeksharambh programme provided the newly admitted students with a meaningful introduction to the College of Agriculture and PAU, and helped them develop a sense of belonging, confidence and responsibility as members of the university community.

ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਦੇ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਕੋਰਸਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ 15 ਰੋਜ਼ਾ ਓਰੀਐਂਟਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਦੀਕਸ਼ਾਰੰਭ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ| ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਬੀ ਐੱਸ ਸੀ ਆਨਰਜ਼ (ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ), ਬੀ ਟੈੱਕ ਬਾਇਓਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੀ ਟੈੱਕ ਭੋਜਨ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ|

ਸਮਾਪਨ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਡੀਨ ਡਾ. ਚਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਔਲਖ ਨੇ ਨਵੇਂ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਮਹਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਾਲਜ ਨੇ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਦੇ ਮੁੱਢਲੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ, ਖੋਜ ਅਤੇ ਪਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਨਾਂਅ ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ| ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਕਾਲਜ ਦਾ ਨਾਂ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ, ਸੱਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਡ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਧਰੂ ਤਾਰੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਮਕਦਾ ਹੈ| ਡਾ. ਔਲਖ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਨਾਮਣੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਤੋਰਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਹੈ| ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ, ਮਿਹਨਤ ਅਤੇ ਲਗਨ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਕਾਰਜ ਅੱਗੇ ਤੋਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਸ ਦਿੱਤੀ|

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਭਾਵ ਵਿਅਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ| ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੇਤੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਨਾਮ ਤਕਸੀਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ| ਸਮਾਗਮ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਡਾ. ਕੇ ਐੱਸ ਸਾਂਘਾ, ਡਾ. ਜੀ ਕੇ ਗਿੱਲ, ਡਾ. ਅਮਨ ਮਿੱਤਲ, ਡਾ. ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਪੰਕਜ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜਮਾਤ ਇੰਚਾਰਜਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ|

ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਵਿਚ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੌੜੇ ਕਰਨ, ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਿਚ ਨੇਪਰੇ ਚੜਿਆ| ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਜੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੰਡੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਦੇ ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ ਸ. ਹਰਚੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਸਟ ਵੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ| ਇਸਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਹੋਸਟਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਸਪਾਸ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਬੂਟੇ ਵੀ ਲਾਏ ਗਏ| ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਈ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਵੱਛ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਲੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਦੀ ਕਲੀਨ, ਗਰੀਨ ਕੈਂਪਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਵੀ ਸੀ|

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸ਼ਣ ਵਿਚ ਸ. ਹਰਚੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਸਟ ਨੇ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਵੱਲੋਂ ਖੇਤੀ ਦੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਲਈ ਪਾਏ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਿਹਾ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕ, ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਉੱਨਤੀ ਲਈ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਨੇ ਅਟੱੁਟ ਜੱਦੋਜਹਿਦ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ| ਸ. ਬਰਸਟ ਨੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚੇ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੰਡੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪਾਏ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਗਿਆਨ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਤੱਕ ਪੁੱਜਣ ਦਾ ਮਾਰਗ ਹਨ| ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੰਡੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਨੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਾਰਗਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਨ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਨ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤੀ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਵੇਂ ਯੁੱਗ ਦਾ ਆਰੰਭ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦਾ ਸਿਹਰਾ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਗੋਸਲ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਸਿਰ ਬੰਨਿਆ|
ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਨੇ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਚਲ ਰਹੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕਾਰਜਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਵੀਨੀਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਦਰੀਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੰਡੀ ਬੋਰਡ ਅਤੇ ਸ. ਬਰਸਟ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਹਰਿਆਲੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਦਾ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਗੁਣ ਹੈ| ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਰੱਖਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਫਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਅਨਜਾਨ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬੀਜੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ| ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਨਸਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਫਲਦਾਰ ਬੂਟਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ ਸੌਂਪਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ| ਡਾ. ਗੋਸਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬੂਟੇ ਫਲ ਅਤੇ ਹਰਿਆਲੀ ਦਾ ਸੁਮੇਲ ਬਣਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੁਧਿਆਣੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਹਰਿਆਲੇ ਨਖਲਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਾਂਗ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਖ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰੇਗੀ|

PAU Releases Student Magazine PARWAAZ

Punjab Agricultural University released its student magazine PARWAAZ for the academic session 2025–26, showcasing the creativity, talent and diverse perspectives of its students. Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, released the magazine as the Chief Guest during the release ceremony.

The magazine was brought out under the Chief Patronship of Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, with Dr Nirmal Jaura, former Director Student Welfare, and Dr K.S. Suri, Director Student Welfare, as Patrons, and Dr Rupinder Kaur Toor, Associate Director Cultural, as Managing Editor. Reflecting the collective efforts of students and faculty, PARWAAZ presents a vibrant blend of academic, scientific, sports and cultural content, capturing the diverse talents and creative expressions of the PAU community.

Dr Rishipal Singh (IAS), Registrar, PAU,graced the event as Guest of honour while the distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included Dr A.S. Dhatt, Director of Research; Dr C.S. Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture; Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science and College of Basic Sciences & Humanities; Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology; Dr Prabhjot Singh Sandhu, Additional Director of Extension Education; Dr K.S. Suri, Director of Student Welfare; Dr T.S. Riar, Additional Director of Communication; Dr Vishal Bector, Associate Director (Institutional Relations); Dr Rupinder Kaur Toor, Associate Director of Cultural Affairs; Dr Sheetal Thapar, HOD, AJLC; and Dr Nirmal Jaura, former Director of Student Welfare, along with faculty members and students from various departments.

Welcoming the gathering, Dr K.S. Suri, Director Student Welfare, acknowledged the collective efforts of the student and faculty editorial teams in bringing out the magazine.

The Chief Guest, Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, congratulating the DSW and the editorial team, appreciated the endeavour to bring out the magazine in three languages, describing it as an inclusive effort that reflects the linguistic diversity and creative presence of PAU students. He lauded the team effort behind the publication and encouraged students to continue expressing their creativity through such platforms.

Dr Nirmal Jaura, former Director Student Welfare, congratulated the editorial board and observed that student magazines provide an important creative outlet while also becoming a lasting record of institutional life. He noted that PARWAAZ would serve as a souvenir that students could cherish in later years, preserving the creative legacy of their generation. He appreciated the balanced representation of science, sports and cultural activities in the magazine.

The release ceremony also featured the felicitation of faculty and student editors in appreciation of their contribution to the publication. Faculty contributors included Dr Narinderpal Singh, Chief Editor; Dr Gagandeep Kaur, Associate Editor; Dr Hina Goyal, Faculty Coordinator; Dr Gurkanwal Kaur; Dr Divya Utreja; Dr Gurupkar Singh; Dr Paramvir Singh Grewal; Dr Kulveer Kaur; and Mr Satvir Singh as faculty editors.

Among the student contributors felicitated were Ms Muskaan Narula and Ms Simarleen, Student Coordinator, along with student editors Mr Davinderpal Singh, Mr Sukhpreet Singh, Mr Raghav Duggal, Ms Navreet Kaur, Ms Bhavya, Ms Srija Jain, Mr Paramjeet Singh, Mr Ayush, Ms Ashmeet Kaur, Mr A***n Sheoran, Mr Vineet Kapoor, Ms Nimmi, Mr Dilawar Singh and Ms Gurleen Kaur.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Rupinder Kaur Toor, who expressed gratitude to the dignitaries for their presence and appreciated the dedication and enthusiasm of the students and faculty involved in bringing PARWAAZ to fruition.

ਅੱਜ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟੋਰੇਟ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਇਕ ਸਾਦਾ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਵਿਚ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ, ਕਲਾਤਮਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਪਰਵਾਜ਼ ਲੋਕ ਅਰਪਿਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਇਸ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਦੇ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ, ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ. ਰਿਸ਼ੀਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਖੋਜ ਡਾ. ਅਜਮੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢੱਟ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਉੱਚ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਰਸਾਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਕ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੁੱਚੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਡਾ. ਸਤਿਬੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੋਸਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾਤਮਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੀਸ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਰੰਭਕ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਲਿਖਤ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਦੇਖਣ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਹ ਰਸਾਲਾ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਕਲਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਂਝਾ ਮੰਚ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਦੁਆ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ ਨੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਸੰਪਾਦਕੀ ਮੰਡਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਲਈ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ. ਰਿਸ਼ੀਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਾਲੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਦੀ ਪਨੀਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਛਪਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਲਈ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉੱਘੇ ਨਾਟਕਕਾਰ ਡਾ. ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੌੜਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ।
ਸਵਾਗਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਡਾ. ਕਮਲਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੂਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਹੇ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਸੰਪਾਦਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਅੰਤ ਵਿਚ ਡਾ. ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਕੌਰ ਤੂਰ ਨੇ ਸਮਾਰੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਭ ਹਸਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।

PAU INKS PACT FOR COMMERCIALIZATION OF CHILLI HYBRID CH-27

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has inked a pact with DCM Shriram Ltd. having its office at New Delhi for commercial seed production of Chilli Hybrid CH- 27.

Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU and Dr. O P Shringi, President, DCM Shriram Ltd. on behalf of their respective organizations. Dr. V.S. Sohu, ADR (Agriculture and Horticulture), Dr Khushdeep Dharni, Associate Director, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, Dr. Satpal Sharma, Head, Department of Vegetable Science and Dr. Sayeed Abdul Hamid Patel, Olericulturist were also present on the occasion.

Dr Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU congratulated the team from Department of Vegetable Science for the commercialization of the Chilli Hybrid.

Dr. Patel told that CH-27 is high yielding hybrid with multiple resistances to leaf curl virus, fruit rot and root knot nematodes. The plants are spreading and continue to bear fruits for long time. Its fruits are light green, long and medium in pungency. The hybrid is suitable for powder making and processing purposes.

Dr. Dharni informed that PAU Chilli Hybrids are very popular across the nation. PAU is entering into pacts with various stakeholders for ensuring the spread of CH-27 on the ground, he added.

ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਨੇ ਡੀ ਸੀ ਐੱਮ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਰਾਮ ਲਿਮਿਟਡ ਨਾਲ ਇਕ ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਉੱਪਰ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਕਸਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਮਿਰਚਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਾਈਬ੍ਰਿਡ ਕਿਸਮ ਸੀ ਐੱਚ-27 ਦੇ ਬੀਜ ਉਤਪਾਦਨ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਫਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ।

ਸਮਝੌਤੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਰਤਾਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਖੋਜ ਡਾ. ਅਜਮੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਢੱਟ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਡਾ. ਓ ਪੀ ਸ਼ਰਿੰਗੀ ਨੇ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਕੀਤੇ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਧੀਕ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਖੋਜ ਡਾ. ਵਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਹੂ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਦੀਪ ਧਰਨੀ ਨੇ ਵਪਾਰੀਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਸੰਧੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ।
ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਸਤਪਾਲ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਬਜ਼ੀ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਡਾ. ਸਇਅਦ ਅਬਦੁਲ ਹਮੀਦ ਪਟੇਲ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਸਨ। ਡਾ. ਪਟੇਲ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸੀ ਐੱਚ-27 ਮਿਰਚਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੋਗਲੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਪੱਤਾ ਮਰੋੜ ਵਾਇਰਸ, ਫਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਗਾਲ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਜੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੰਢਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਮਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਯੋਗਤਾ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸਦੇ ਪੌਦੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਫਲ ਨੂੰ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਤੋੜਨ ਲਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਫਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਰੰਗ ਹਲਕਾ ਹਰਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਤਿੱਖੇਪਣ ਦੀ ਮਾਤਰਾ ਦਰਮਿਆਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਕਿਸਮ ਮਿਰਚਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਾਊਡਰ ਬਨਾਉਣ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਸੈਸਿੰਗ ਲਈ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਢੁੱਕਵੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਵਪਾਰੀਕਰਨ ਸੈੱਲ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗੀ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਕ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਦੀਪ ਧਰਨੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਪੀ.ਏ.ਯੂ. ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਗੀਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਭ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਸਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੁਨਾਫ਼ੇ ਲਈ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਢੁਕਵੀਆਂ ਮਿਰਚਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ।
