National Farmers’ Day or Kisan Diwas
• It is observed every year in all the states of India on December 23 to honor the former Prime Minister of India, Choudhary Charan Singh.
• Historians and people alike frequently refer to Choudhary Charan Singh as the 'champion of India's peasants'. During his tenure as the Prime Minister, he introduced many policies to accelerate the pace of development of Indian farmers.
• He took initiatives for the welfare of the farmers and united the farmers’ community against the landlords and money lenders across the nation.
• He always followed the famous slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ given by the second Prime Minister of India, Sh. Lal Bahadur Shastri.
• Carrying farmer leader Chotu Ram’s legacy forward, he founded the Kisan Trust on his 76th birthday on December 23, 1978, to create awareness of farmers issues among the rural masses.
• India has witnessed an interesting farming journey. The green revolution during the 60s evolved in Punjab and Haryana transformed the agricultural picture of the country. This increased the productivity and thus India became self-sufficient in various agro-commodities.

• Agriculture is the most important sector of Indian Economy. Indian agriculture sector accounts for 18 percent of India's gross domestic product (GDP) and provides employment to 50% of the countries workforce.
• The government of India has declared its commitment to benefit the farmers over the period of time.
• Several schemes and incentives have been introduced for the farmers that would lead to their development.
• Farmers have very clearly been responding to incentives. This is not surprising by itself. One of the fundamental insights in economics is that consumers and producers respond to incentives. Indian farmers have done the same.
• In 2017, Charan Singh’s legacy may seem to have disappeared from the minds of people, but his imprint on India’s national politics still continues.

एशिया का पहला नोबेल जीतने पर रॉयटर्स के संवाददाता ने इंग्लैण्ड से फोन कर के गुरुदेव से पूछा, "आपको आपकी कविता के लिए नोबेल मिला है। आप इतना अच्छा कैसे लिख लेते हैं?" गुरुदेव ने जवाब दिया, "मैं कुछ नहीं लिखता। मेरे हृदय के अंदर एक विरहणी निवास करती है। वो रो देती है, और मैं उसका दुःख कागज़ पर उकेर देता हूँ, कविता हो जाती है।" ईश्वर ने सृजन करने का अधिकार अपने अलावा सिर्फ स्त्री को दिया है। जहाँ स्त्री नहीं है, वहाँ सर्जना सम्भव ही नहीं है। पर विश्व सर्जना की अधिकारिणी, दुनिया की आधी आबादी का प्रतिनिधित्व करने वाली हर स्त्री-शक्ति को सलाम!🙏💐
