NCC Unit Organises Clean Environment Activity at GTB National College, Dakha

Dakha, October 1: Under the banner of 3 PB Battalion, Ludhiana, the NCC Unit of GTB National College, Dakha, organised a Clean Environment Activity on the college campus to mark the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. The activity aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and a sense of social responsibility among the cadets.

A total of 37 NCC cadets actively participated in the activity and enthusiastically contributed towards maintaining a clean and healthy college environment. The cadets carried out cleanliness activities across the campus and spread the message of cleanliness, civic responsibility, and community service.

The activity was conducted under the guidance of 3 PB Battalion, Ludhiana. PI Staff Tarsem Singh from 3 PB Battalion, Ludhiana, also observed the activity and appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the NCC cadets. Refreshments were also provided by 3 PB Battalion, Ludhiana for the participating cadets.

Dr. Sandeep Kataria, Principal, GTB National College, Dakha, congratulated the entire NCC Unit for undertaking this wonderful initiative. He appreciated the dedication and enthusiasm of the cadets and motivated them to continue participating in upcoming activities related to social causes and community service.

S. Randhir Singh Sekhon, President, Managing Committee, appreciated NCC CTO Gurveer Singh Brar and his team for their dedicated efforts in organising the activity and inspiring cadets towards social responsibility.

Dr. Sandeep Kataria Receives Warm Welcome at College After Grand Victory in Panjab University Senate Election

Dakha: Dr. Sandeep Kataria, Principal of GTB National College, Dakha, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the college staff upon his arrival at the college following his grand victory in the Panjab University Senate Election from the Principal Constituency.

The faculty and non-teaching staff gathered on the college campus to congratulate Dr. Kataria on his significant achievement. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and celebration as staff members extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Principal.

Dr. Kataria expressed his gratitude to the entire college fraternity for their support, good wishes and encouragement. He said that the victory was a matter of pride not only for him but for the entire GTB National College family.

The staff members appreciated Dr. Kataria’s achievement and expressed confidence that his presence in the Panjab University Senate would further strengthen the voice and interests of the college and its academic community.

Elocution Competition Organised by English Literary Club at GTB National College

The English Literary Club of GTB National College organised an Elocution Competition at the Language Lab on 8 September 2026. A large number of students from different streams participated enthusiastically in the competition and expressed their views on various relevant topics with great confidence and eloquence.

The principal of the college, Dr. Sandeep Kataria, graced the occasion and addressed the students. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of communication skills and literary activities in the overall personality development of students. He congratulated all the participants and the organisers on the successful conduct of the event.

Jasmeen Kaur of B.Com final year bagged the first prize, Loveleen Kaur of M.Com second year secured the second prize, while Jagmeet Singh of B.A. first year and Manvi Arora of B.Com first year shared the third prize.

The competition was judged by Dr. Parveen Lata and Prof. Inderpreet Kaur. The competition was successfully conducted by the in-charges of the English Literary Club, Prof. Manu Gupta and Prof. Ekta Chander. They motivated the students to enhance their literary skills and announced that the club will continue to organise such events in the future as well.

Teej Festival (Teeyan Da Mela) Celebrations at G.T.B. National College, Dakha

A cultural event was organized at G.T.B National college, Dakha, to welcome the rainy month of Sawan and to celebrate the rich heritage of Punjabiyat and women empowerment.

The entire college donned a festive look, adorned with colorful Phulkaris, traditional swings (Peengh), and heritage setups featuring decorated Charkhas, Pakhis, and antique Punjabi utensils.

Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Medical Officer at Pandori Dispensary, joined as the Chief Guest. Members of the college managing committee and the Principal welcomed the distinguished guests. Among them were Mrs. Manjit Kaur, Vice President, and Mrs. Mandeep Kaur and Mrs. Kuljeet Kaur.

Principal Dr. Sandeep Kataria in his speech highlighted the importance of keeping our historical roots alive among today’s youth.

Students participated in cultural performances, heritage and art competitions, and thoroughly enjoyed the traditional flavors of Sawan, including Kheer. A ramp walk and talent evaluation were also conducted, where participants were judged on their grace, traditional attire, and knowledge of Punjabi culture. Sukhmandeep Kaur won the crown of “Miss Teej”.

The event concluded with an energetic Giddha performance. Navjot Kaur was chosen as ‘Giddhiyan Di Rani’, Sukhmanjot Kaur won ‘Best Face Expression’, Tanveer Kaur was selected as ‘Best Dancer’, and Sandeep Kaur as ‘Best Singer’. Prizes were also awarded for Best Jutti, Best Phulkari, and Long Hair.Mrs.Manu Gupta, Mrs.Inderpreet kaur and Ms.Tejinder kaur were the judges on the occasion.

The celebration ended with a prize distribution ceremony for both teachers and students, leaving the campus filled with unforgettable memories of togetherness. Stage was handled by Dr. Parveen Lata.

Khelo India Samvad Held at GTB National College, Dakha

On 27 August 2026, “Khelo India Samvad: Khel Ki Baat PM Modi Ke Saath” was successfully organized at Guru Tegh Bahadur National College, Dakha, on the occasion of National Sports Day under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sandeep Kataria.

Organized by Mera Yuva Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the programme focused on promoting sports, healthy lifestyles and a drug-free youth for a Viksit Bharat.

Principal Dr. Sandeep Kataria thanked Shri Jai Bhagwan, Regional Director, NSS, and Madam Rupinder Kaur, State NSS Officer, for selecting the college for this programme. He encouraged students to actively participate in sports.

International rower and National Rowing Coach S. Gurmél Singh also motivated students to stay away from drug abuse and contribute to nation-building. Students interacted virtually with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The programme was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Parveen Lata, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Prof. Tejinderpal Kaur and Prof. Harminder Singh, with support from the Mera Yuva Bharat team.

The event concluded with students and volunteers taking a pledge to build a drug-free and healthy society.

GTB National College, Dakha Organises Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge

Dakha, Ludhiana | 18 August 2026: GTB National College, Dakha successfully organised the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge (Oath Taking Ceremony) on 18 August 2026 in compliance with the directions issued by the Department of Youth Services, Punjab, vide Memo No. DYS/2026/8971-9036 dated 14.08.2026.

The pledge was administered to the NCC cadets and NSS volunteers with the objective of creating awareness among the youth about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse and promoting a healthy, disciplined and drug-free lifestyle.

During the programme, the NCC and NSS cadets/volunteers collectively took the oath to stay away from drugs and to contribute actively towards building a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.” The participants were also sensitised about the physical, mental and social consequences of substance abuse and encouraged to spread awareness about the dangers of drugs in society.

The programme was organised under the able leadership of College managing committee President S. Randhir Singh Sekhon, whose constant support and commitment towards the welfare and development of students greatly contributed to the success of the initiative. The event was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Sandeep Kataria.

NSS Officer Dr. Parveen Lata and NCC CTO Gurveer Singh Brar played an active role in coordinating and conducting the programme. Their efforts, along with the enthusiastic participation of the students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, contributed to the successful completion of the event.

The programme reinforced the message of healthy living, self-discipline and collective responsibility in the fight against drug abuse. The college authorities reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a safe, healthy and drug-free environment among the youth.
