GNDEC School of Architecture Students Explore India’s Premier Convention and Exhibition Infrastructure
The 9th Semester B.Architecture students of GNDEC School of Architecture, Ludhiana recently undertook an academic study tour to New Delhi as part of their Architectural Design and Case Study exercise on Convention and Exhibition Centres.
The students had the opportunity to visit two of India’s most iconic convention destinations—Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan and Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre), Dwarka.
Another significant highlight of the visit was to visit the India Habitat Centre. The students benefited immensely from discussions on urban development, contemporary architectural practice, professional responsibilities, and emerging opportunities in the field of architecture and planning.
The study tour provided an enriching learning experience by bridging classroom knowledge with real-world architectural practice, enabling students to better understand the scale, complexity, and multidisciplinary nature of convention and exhibition centre design.

GNDEC School of Architecture organized a One Day study trip for B.Architecture 5th semester students to Chandigarh to conduct case study on Museum Architecture. Students explored the Government Museum and Art Gallery, the Museum of Architecture, and the Evolution of Human History exhibition.
From understanding spatial design and materiality to observing how architecture narrates history and culture, the visit gave them a deeper insight into the unseen forces that shape our built environment.
Experiences like these remind us that architecture is not just about structures — it’s about context, perception, and storytelling. We appreciate the efforts of the studio in-charge, Ar. Ravinder Singh - Assistant Professor, GNDEC School of Architecture.

GNDEC School of Architecture, Ludhiana proudly shares that the students of B.Arch. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year participated in the Annual NASA Convention held at Woxsen University, Hyderabad. The convention provided students with valuable opportunities to attend seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions, helping them enhance their knowledge, skills, and professional exposure in the field of architecture.

A special achievement for the institution was the recognition of Taranbir Singh, who was honoured with a Silver Medal for his dedication, hard work, and outstanding contribution while serving as the Unit Secretary. By representing the college at the national level among students from architecture institutions across the country, he brought pride and recognition to the institution through his commitment and leadership.

The institute’s impressive internship and placement record is reflected in the success of its graduates, many of whom have secured positions with firms featured among Forbes India’s Top 30 architecture and design practices. Adding to this legacy, two of our students have had the opportunity to be associated with Architect Hafeez Contractor, one of India’s most renowned architects and a Padma Bhushan awardee. Ar. Bhavjeet Singh (Batch 2019–24), an Architect, and Komalpreet Singh (B.Arch, 7th-semester student), an Architect intern, are gaining valuable professional exposure at the firm.

We are delighted to announce that the B.Arch 10th Semester students of GNDEC School of Architecture have successfully defended their thesis projects after months of dedicated sketching, modeling, designing, research, and rigorous critiques.

Heartiest congratulations to all our thesis students and their mentors. Their creativity, perseverance, and commitment have resulted in projects that not only envision inspiring structures but also contribute bold ideas for the future of the built environment.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. (Ar.) Harsimran Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, Planning and Design, IIT BHU, and Ar. Jatinder Pal Singh, Associate Professor, CCA Chandigarh, for serving as external jury experts and sharing their valuable insights.

We also acknowledge and appreciate the presence of local architects who enriched the thesis jury process with their professional perspectives.

Special congratulations to Ar. Sukhmanjit Singh, Associate Professor & Thesis Coordinator, GNDEC School of Architecture, for the seamless organization and successful conduct of the jury. Prof. Akanksha Sharma, Head, GNDEC School of Architecture, commended the outstanding work of the students, the dedication of the faculty mentors, and especially recognized the continuous guidance and support provided by Ar. GNDEC School of Architecture successfully conducted the Architectural Design External Jury for 8th Semester B.Architecture students. We were privileged to host Ar. Parmeet Singh Bhatt, Associate Professor, Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), Chandigarh, as the external juror.

Students showcased their design projects, including a Medical College at Hisar and a City Bus Terminal at Lucknow. Ar. Bhatt appreciated the creativity and quality of the work and provided valuable suggestions for further refinement and publication.

The interaction proved to be highly motivating for the students, offering them valuable professional insights and encouragement.

We appreciate the efforts of Ar. Vivek Sehgal, Associate Professor, for the smooth conduct of the jury. Prof. Akanksha Sharma, Head, GNDEC School of Architecture, commended the students and faculty mentor for their dedication and hard work.
