On February 21, 2026, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda launched an indigenously manufactured Tetanus and Adult Diphtheria (Td) vaccine at the Central Research Institute (CRI), Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. This new vaccine replaces the older Tetanus Toxoid (TT) vaccine in India’s Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) to provide dual protection against both tetanus and diphtheria for adolescents and adults
