December 22 is celebrated as National Mathematics Day in India. It is the birth anniversary of Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.National Mathematics Day is observed on December 22 every year. This date marks the birth anniversary of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. In 2012, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh declared December 22 as National Mathematics Day to honor the life and achievements of Ramanujan.

Luis A. Caffarelli of The University of Texas at Austin, USA, has received the 2023 Abel Prize, announced today by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in Oslo, Norway.
Caffarelli has been honored for his “seminal contributions to regularity theory for nonlinear partial differential equations including free-boundary problems and the Monge-Ampere equation.”
