Tips for IELTS:

WRITING TASK -1

🍀🍀Step by Step Instructions

I will now take you through
my thought processes and show you step by step how to answer a question like this.

1⃣Read the question twice very carefully.
2⃣Look at the data. What data is represented on the axis? What groups are represented? What time periods are shown? What are units of measurements?

3⃣What are the main features?
4⃣Can I make any comparisons? Are there any exceptions?

5⃣Make a quick plan using above structure.
6⃣Write introduction by paraphrasing question.
7⃣Write second paragraph, which is summary or overview of main features.

8⃣Support the ideas in second paragraph with more detail in third and fourth paragraphs.

9⃣Make sure I’ve not repeated any words and used a range of vocabulary.

🔟Check for any grammar mistakes and make sure I’ve got at least 150 words.

Writing Task -1

The graph compares the GDP per capita, cost of a Toyota Camry and approximate length of time it takes for 1 citizen to purchase that mode of transport in eight Asian countries.

Despite having the second lowest average yearly income, it costs more to buy this car in Vietnam than in all but one other Asian nation. It also takes significantly longer for a standard person to buy an automobile in Vietnam than in any other state in Asia. On the other end of the scale, Singaporeans have to pay nearly three times more for their cars than the Vietnamese and it takes them the least amount of time to afford a motor vehicle.

It costs $49,944 to buy a Toyota Camry in Vietnam, but this dwarfs the average yearly income per person at just $1,910. It would therefore take a normal man or woman 26.1 years to save up for that particular car.

This is in contrast to Singapore where it costs $126,245 for that model of motorcar, however the average salary is much greater at $55,182. This means that it generally takes just over 2 years for a typical individual from Singapore to acquire this vehicle.🍀🍀

The bar chart below shows the percentage of Australian men and women in different age groups who did regular physical activity in 2010.

The chart compares the proportions of Australian males and females in six age categories who were physically active on a regular basis in the year 2010.

Roughly speaking, close to half of Australian adults did some kind of routine physical activity in 2010. Middle aged females were the most physically active, proportionally, while males aged 35 to 44 did the least physical activity.

In the youngest age category (15 to 24), almost 53% of Australian men but only 47.7% of women did regular physical activity in 2010. However, between the ages of 25 and 44, men were much less active on average than women. In fact, in the 35 to 44 age group, a mere 39.5% of males did some form of regular exercise, compared to 52.5% of females.

Between the ages of 45 and 64, the figure for male physical activity rose to around 45%, while the proportion of active females remained around 8% higher, at 53%. Finally, the percentages of Australian women and men aged 65 and over who exercised regularly were almost identical, at approximately 47%.
