The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees works for humanitarian upliftment with a commitment for being the first step in providing better lives to millions, with perseverance towards rightful existence — A tryst with benevolence.

Delhi Public School, Eldeco Model UN 2022 is proud to be a part of the Model UN Refugee Challenge, which is being organised by the UNHCR ().

The UNSC Committee will be discussing the topics as a part of its agenda: Insurgency and displacement in Mozambique, with special emphasis on the situation in Cabo Delgado.

The revolutionary endeavors, deliberations and discussions, which will emerge at the end of this convention; the solution to our situation will be put before a jury composed of UNHCR members, leaders and maverick experts.

Today Media stands as a crucial element of democracy. It acts as a conduit for information between the state and its people and enables a democracy itself. It has the power to bring out dilemmas and vital affairs to the eyes and ears of the population.

The international press is a source of knowledge, perspective, and reality. It yields delegates the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of reporters, photographers, and caricaturists.

It is said that a pen is mightier than a sword, which holds its truth even today. Journalists vocalise their opinions with enticing expressions which have the power to change the world. They bring out the truth to the public and help them shape their opinions.

With evolving media culture, photography has become an integral part of the industry. Photographers today have a huge responsibility. They capture a thousand words with a single click, bringing us the visual details of events happening around the world.

Art and caricature has ignited revolutions and has helped countries free themselves from shackles of despotism. Caricaturists through artistic expression, put forward their take on current affairs which leave a huge impact on its audience. The impact of art itself is a testament of the huge responsibility artists have.

Our ways of consuming media are constantly evolving but the vehemence leaking through words or art will remain— felt by all. So folks, we present to you the International Press.

We present to you the sixth committee to be simulated at DPSEMUN 2022.

Committee: Financial Action Task Force (Plenary)

Agenda: Deliberating upon measures to curb funding of organised crimes with regards to money laundering and terror financing

About the committee: The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) is an inter-governmental organisation that develops international standards to combat unlawful activities and the harm they cause to society. The FATF, as a policy-making body, keeps track of members' progress in implementing anti-money laundering measures, investigates the laundering patterns, and encourages the adoption and implementation of FATF anti-money laundering standards around the world.

About the agenda: Financial mobility and efficient communication have allowed transnational organised criminal groups to prosper, diversify, and expand their operations. Smaller, more flexible networks spanning multiple jurisdictions have evolved or largely replaced traditional territorial-based criminal organisations.

A vast majority of felonies are committed with the intent of generating profit which not only poses a threat to public safety but also to financial and economic institutions due to the enormous power gathered by these illicit organisations. The manipulation of criminal funds to conceal its illegal origin termed as money laundering is a crucial procedure because it allows the perpetrator to earn without endangering their source of income.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, international efforts to combat money laundering have been based on strategies aimed at attacking criminal organizations through their financial operations, depriving them of the ability to act, and unravelling the web of their financial networks and financing methods, in order to better understand how to combat them.

The milieu in which organised crime thrives is constantly evolving. New challenges, particularly terrorism and its financing, necessitate a constant assessment of the strategies in place.
So join us as we persist in our battle against crime. Prepare yourself for an enlightening conference.
