📌 Babu Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences, under the visionary Principal Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Pasricha, continues to strengthen its culture of Research Colloquium. Faculty In-charge, Research Cell, Prof. (Dr.) Lakshmi Bala, welcomed all faculties and mentioned that such sessions provide a platform for faculties to come together to exchange their ideas and transform scientific curiosity into impactful translational research with interdisciplinary collaborations.

📌 Sincere gratitude to our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sri Krishna Srivastava, Hon’ble Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Satish Chander Sharma, and Dr. S. Ahmad Ali, Head, Research and Development Cell, was expressed for their unwavering encouragement and support in cultivating a vibrant research ecosystem.

📌 On 4th June, 2026, an engaging presentation was given by ✨️Dr. Adil Husain✨️, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry, on the topic: “Liquid Biopsy-Based Biomarkers for Diagnosis and Prognosis of Adult-type Diffuse Gliomas: A Computational Approach.” The session explored how the convergence of liquid biopsy technologies, molecular biomarkers, and computational biology holds the promise of more personalized therapeutic strategies.

📌 BBD College of Dental Sciences | Academic Collaboration with Saturn Aligners

📌 Babu Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences, under the aegis of Babu Banarasi Das University, Lucknow, proudly celebrated the signing of the Letter of Understanding (LoU) with Saturn Aligners through a grand Academic Collaboration Program successfully hosted by ✨️Department of Orthodontics✨️ on 30th May, 2026.

📌 The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr Shantanu Khattri, Prof & Head , Dept of Orthodontics. The Words of Wisdom by Respected Principal Prof.(Dr.) Neeta Pasricha stressed on her vision for modern dental education and clinical excellence. Her constant supervision and guidance has been the cornerstone of every academic initiative at the institution.

📌 Guest speakers for the day Dr. Dhruv Yadav, Founder Saturn Aligners and Dr. Divyaroop Rai and Mr. J. P. Chamola, Co-founders, Saturn Aligners, were felicitated by presentation of mementos.

📌 The academic session featured expert lectures by guest speakers on modern Orthodontic practices and clear aligner technology, along with an Introduction to the First Module of Aligner training session.

🚭 Under the guidance of ✨️Principal Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Pasricha✨️, the Department of Public Health Dentistry observed "World No To***co Month 2026" with a series of impactful events, highlighted by a "Guest lecture" delivered by ✨️Dr. Jasmeet Singh✨️ (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon), Medical officer, UP Provincial Medical Services, Bahraich.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Singh’s lecture was a **deeply engaging and insightful session** that addressed to***co addiction as a **serious public health crisis**. He explained that to***co use is not simply a matter of personal choice but a **global health challenge** with devastating consequences for both oral and systemic health. His talk emphasized the **urgent need for awareness, prevention, and early detection**, reminding students and faculty that proactive measures can save countless lives.

✨ He elaborated on the **alarming rise in oral precancerous lesions and cancers**, stressing that **early clinical detection and timely intervention** are crucial in reducing morbidity and mortality. Dr. Singh also shed light on the **psychosocial dimensions of addiction**, pointing out how peer influence, glamorization in media, and lack of awareness contribute to the cycle of dependency. He urged institutions to adopt a **multidisciplinary approach**—combining medical expertise, educational outreach, and community engagement—to effectively counter ni****ne and to***co addiction.

👨‍⚕️ Dr. Hemant Mehra, Head & Professor, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Saraswati Dental College, emphasized the clinical burden of oral cancer and precancerous lesions, stressing that early detection and surgical interventions are vital to reducing to***corelated morbidity.
⚖️ Dr. Arun Kumar, Head & Dean, School of Legal Studies, BBDU, focused on the role of legislation and policy enforcement, explaining how strong laws and regulatory frameworks are indispensable in curbing to***co use and safeguarding public health.

🚭 Under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Neeta Pasricha, the Department of Public Health Dentistry observed World No To***co Month 2026 with a series of impactful activities throughout May—awareness campaigns, nukkad natak, quizzes, poster & reel competitions, counselling sessions, and outreach programs.

🌍 This observance carried forward the campaign theme “Unmasking the Appeal: Countering Ni****ne & To***co Addiction”, aligning with the global call by the World Health Organization (WHO) and national directives from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD), and the State To***co Control Cell. These bodies have urged institutions worldwide to celebrate "World No To***co Day" on 31 May and extend awareness activities throughout the month, recognizing the urgent need to reduce to***co-related morbidity and mortality.

✨ The month began with a formal inauguration ceremony, setting the tone for collective action against to***co use. Students and faculty came together in spirited performances like the Nukkad Natak, which vividly portrayed the dangers of to***co addiction and encouraged the community to embrace healthier choices.

🎬 The Reel Competition showcased the creativity of young minds, with short videos spreading powerful anti-to***co messages across digital platforms. Similarly, the E-Poster Competition allowed participants to translate the campaign theme into striking visuals, reinforcing the urgency of prevention and awareness.

🧠 Knowledge and quick thinking were tested in the Quiz Competition, where teams of interns and postgraduates competed enthusiastically, reflecting their growing commitment to public health advocacy.

🌍 Beyond the campus, the department organized outreach awareness programs, extending the message to the wider community and empowering youth as health ambassadors. These initiatives highlighted that dismantling the glamorization of to***co requires education, creativity, and collective responsibility.

💡 By observing World No To***co Month 2026, BBDCODS, BBDU Lucknow reaffirmed its commitment to building a to***co-free future and contributing to the worldwide movement against ni****ne and to***co addiction.

📌 Babu Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences under the leadership of the Principal Prof (Dr.) Neeta Pasricha, proudly started an initiative Research Colloquium for faculty members to interact, collaborate and brain storm on research ideas and studies. Faculty In-charge, Research Cell, Prof. (Dr.) Lakshmi Bala, welcomed all enthusiastic HODs, faculty members and researchers and mentioned that session will be held every week with presentation by institute’s faculty to keep up the pace with recent scientific advancements.

📌 First session was conducted on May 21, 2026 with the presentation by Dr. Pratyush Singh, Reader, Department of Oral Pathology and Microbiology on the topic “Psychosocial Determinants of Areca Nut Use and Early Oral Mucosal Histopathological Changes among School-Going Adolescents in Lucknow District, Uttar Pradesh.” The event spotlighted the pressing issue of adolescent areca nut consumption and its early oral mucosal changes emphasizing the intersection of psychology, public health, and oral pathology.
