The Department of Periodontology proudly celebrated National Periodontist Day on 23rd February, 2026, under the inspiring theme:
“Periodontist: The Unsung Heroes for a Beautiful Smile.”

Patient Awareness Program was conducted to educate patients about the importance of periodontal health, early signs of gum disease, and correct brushing techniques were demonstrated. Patients received comprehensive periodontal check-ups and professional guidance. Oral hygiene kits and samples were distributed to encourage better home care practices.

Adding a creative touch to the celebration, a Sketch-Making Activity was organized for students to highlight the theme of healthy gums and beautiful smiles.
The day concluded with a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, celebrating the dedication and tireless efforts of periodontists in preserving the foundation of every smile.

The event successfully reinforced the message that healthy gums are essential for overall well-being, and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to spreading awareness and serving the community.

Dr. Jitendra Bhagchandani,Professor & Head, Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, SPPGIDMS, was invited as a 'Guest Speaker' at the prestigious Military Command Dental Centre, Command Hospital, Lucknow, on 19th November, 2025, for a CDE Program on “Collaborative Care: Role of Dentistry in Systemic Health.”

His insightful session highlighted the vital connection between oral health and systemic well-being, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in modern healthcare.
His contribution added immense value to the academic discourse and was greatly appreciated by all the delegates.

📚 Workshop on Research Methodology, Proforma Writing and Biostatistics

The Research Advisory Council and Institutional Ethical Committee of Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences, Lucknow, in collaboration with the Department of Prosthodontics, Crown & Bridge and Implantology successfully organized a one-day workshop on 9th October 2025 at the Institute Auditorium.

The workshop featured enlightening sessions by distinguished speakers — Dr. Ravindra Kumar Garg, Head, Department of Neurology, Era’s Lucknow Medical College and Hospital; Dr. Balendra Pratap Singh, Professor, Department of Prosthodontics, King George’s Medical University, Lucknow; and Mr. Ksh*tij Arora, Data Analyst and Researcher, KGMU.

The sessions offered in-depth insights into Research Methodology, Proforma writing, and Biostatistics, equipping participants with valuable knowledge for conducting and presenting quality research.

The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, postgraduate students, and researchers, making it a highly engaging and academically enriching experience.

🌞 INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 2025🧘‍♀️
Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental & Medical Sciences, Lucknow is all set to host a grand celebration of International Yoga Day' on 21st June 2025, in line with the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s initiative.

This large-scale event will see the active participation of the entire faculty, students, and staff, uniting in the spirit of wellness and harmony.

Together, we will embrace the theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”— and immerse in the enriching experience of traditional yoga practices.

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, SPPGIDMS successfully organized a CDE program featuring Dr. Ajay Kubawat, Professor & Head, Dept. of Orthodontics, NPDCH, Sankalchand University, Gujarat, Past Executive Committee Member of IOS, and a renowned international speaker. His enlightening session on 'Aligning Expectations: What the Evidence Reveals about Clear Aligner Predictability and Case Selection' enriched the knowledge of faculty and students.

Principal, SPPGIDMS Dr. Gaurav Singh graced the event along with Director of Orthodontics, Dr. Sudhir Kapoor , Director of CDE Student Welfare and Creative Head, Dr. Raj Kumar Jaiswal, and Head of Department, Dr. Jitendra Bhagchandani. The program concluded with a felicitation ceremony and a vote of thanks.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences hosted an engaging session in collaboration with 3M Oral Care, featuring Dr. Priyanka Jain Sikka, a clinical specialist with over eight years of experience in dental materials and orthodontics. The session, titled "Clinical Tips and Tricks on Cementation," provided valuable insights into advanced cementation techniques for dental professionals and students.

Dr. Sikka shared expert strategies for achieving precision in cementation, offering practical guidance and innovative approaches to enhance clinical outcomes. The interactive session allowed attendees to gain hands-on knowledge, further enriching their practical skills.

The event also honoured the contributions of women in dentistry, emphasizing empowerment and professional growth. The celebration concluded on a joyful note with a cake-cutting ceremony, symbolizing unity and appreciation for women in the medical field.

At the end of the program, Dr. Gaurav Singh, Principal of Sardar Patel Post Graduate Institute of Dental and Medical Sciences, expressed his gratitude to Dr. Priyanka Jain Sikka and 3M Oral Care for their valuable contribution. On February 8, 2025, the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, hosted a highly informative CDE program on "Helping to Break the Habit: Effective Therapies for To***co Cessation" by Dr. Nilam Gada, a renowned speaker in the field of to***co addiction and cessation. Dr. Gada shared her expertise through two engaging lectures, focusing on innovative therapies to help individuals quit to***co use. The session also included an interactive quiz, encouraging participants to actively engage and enhance their learning experience. It was an insightful and impactful session, aimed at empowering professionals with effective tools to combat to***co addiction.
