CBSE Accountancy 2018 – Paper Review & Analysis

CBSE Class 12 Accountancy board exam 2018 was held today (i.e., March 7, 2018) from 10.30 A.M. to 1.30 PM. More than 3 lakh candidates appeared for this paper.

Early in the morning, several media houses reported that CBSE class 12 Accountancy paper (Set II) was reportedly leaked before the beginning of the exam.

But, later CBSE confirmed that the question paper was NOT leaked.

Format of CBSE Class 12 Accountancy 2018 Board Exam’s Question Paper:

The question paper contained two parts ‒ A and B.

Part A: (Accounting for Partnership Firms and Companies).

This part carried 60 marks and this part was compulsory for all the students.

Part B: Option - I (Analysis of Financial Statements) OR Option – II (Computerised Accounting).

This part carried 20 marks. In Part B, there were two options (as mentioned above) and students of Class 12 Commerce students had to attempt only one of two options in part B..

Marks Distribution

There were 17 questions in part A (i.e. 1 to 17), in which

• Question number 1 to 6 carried one mark

• Question number 7 to 10 carried three marks

• Question number 11 and 12 carried four marks

• Question number 13 to 15 carried six marks

• Question number 16 and 17 carried eight marks

There were 6 questions in part B (i.e. 18 to 23), in which

• Question number 18 and 19 carried one marks

• Question number 20 and 22 carried four marks

• Question number 23 carried six marks

Same numbers of questions with similar weightage were present in option 1 and option 2 of Part B.

Feedback from students about the question Paper:

Most students of Class 12 Commerce who had attempted Option - I (Analysis of Financial Statements) in Part B besides Part A told us that the paper was very difficult. Some said the difficult level of Part B was a bit high.

Students who had attempted Option – II (Computerised Accounting) told us the paper was easy. Nearly all the students accepted that the paper was lengthy and both the sections were time consuming.

All the questions in the paper were asked from the syllabus

Questions were not repeated from previous years’ papers

Expected Score (Average): More than 60 marks (out of 80 marks)
