इन दिनों GST के सम्बन्ध में सोसल मीडिया पर एंटी मोदी टीम के दो सन्देश वायरल हो रहे हैं.
१) जब मोदी विपक्ष में थे तो GST का विरोध था, इसे वह खतरनाक बोलते थे. अब सत्ता में आ गए तो उसी दमनकारी GST को लागू कर रहे हैं.
२) जब बाकी सारी चीजें GST में हैं तो पेट्रोल और दारू GST के दायरे में क्यों नहीं.
इन दोनों ही प्रश्नों का उत्तर एक ही है, जो खुद मोदी जी संसद में दे चुके हैं. GST प्रावधान उन प्रदेशों के खिलाफ है जहाँ मैन्युफैक्चरिंग होती है जैसे गुजरात, महाराष्ट्र, तमिल नाडू आदि. यह उन प्रदेशों के लिए हितकर है जहाँ पैदा कुछ नहीं होता पर दुसरे प्रदेशों से चीजें माँगा कर उपभोग करते हैं जैसे उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार आदि. इसी लिए तमिलनाडु, गुजरात, महाराष्ट्र आदि के मुख्य मंत्री २०१२ में GST के खिलाफ थे.

चूंकि मोदी जी स्वयं गुजरात के मुख्य मंत्री रहे थे तो जब प्रधान मंत्री बने तो उन्हें समस्या मालूम थी. इसी लिए GST प्रावधानों में संसोधन किया गया. केंद्र सरकार पहले पांच वर्षों तक किसी भी प्रदेश को होने वाले नुक्सान की भरपाई करेगी. इसके साथ ही हाई टैक्स वाली कुछ वस्तुवें जैसे पेट्रोलियम, दारू आदि GST के दायरे से बाहर रखी गई. प्रदेशों के पास समय है इस दौरान यदि उन्हें लगता है GST की वजह से उनके टैक्स कलेक्शन में कमी आ रही है तो वह इन वस्तुवों पर टैक्स बढ़ा कर घाटे की भरपाई कर सकते हैं. इसी समझौते के आधार पर मैन्युफैक्चरिंग में संपन्न प्रदेश सहमत हुवे GST लागू करने को लेकर.
यह उत्तर उनके लिए जो वाकई में उत्तर की अपेक्षा रखते हैं. बाकी जिनके जीवन का एक ही ध्येय है मोदी हाय हाय तो उनकी जठराअग्नि शांत नहीं होने वाली
