A Moment That Became History...

Some photographs preserve memories. Others preserve legacies.

This rare photograph takes us back to 1988, when the All India Muslim Intellectual Society (AIMIS) was still in its formative years, carrying a vision of promoting Islamic scholarship, intellectual dialogue, and literary excellence.

Captured in this historic moment is Hazrat Maulana Minnatullah Rehmani (RA)—the revered Founder of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB)—graciously releasing the book Ali Al-Murtaza, authored by the renowned Islamic thinker Mufakkir-e-Islam Hazrat Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi (Ali Mian) (RA).

The programme was organized under the banner of All India Muslim Intellectual Society (AIMIS) by Prof. Mohammad Yunus Nagrami Nadwi (RA), whose lifelong commitment to education, scholarship, and community service laid the foundation for AIMIS's enduring journey.

Hazrat Maulana Minnatullah Rehmani (RA), the founding General Secretary of AIMPLB, was himself the worthy son of Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Ali Mungeri (RA)—the illustrious founder of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. The gathering therefore brought together towering personalities whose contributions continue to illuminate the intellectual and spiritual landscape of the Indian Muslim community.

Today, as AIMIS continues its mission decades later, this photograph reminds us that institutions are built by sincere people, noble ideas, and unwavering dedication. Their vision continues to inspire new generations to pursue knowledge with wisdom, humility, and purpose.

May Allah ﷻ shower His infinite mercy upon all these great luminaries, accept their lifelong services to Islam, and grant them the highest ranks in Jannat al-Firdaws. Āmīn. 🤲

In recent days, it has been deeply unfortunate to witness certain individuals on social media who, despite having held scholarly disagreements with a religious scholar during his lifetime, are now using disrespectful and undignified language against him after his passing. In reality, such conduct reflects the very extremism and intolerance from which the deceased himself suffered while alive.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has clearly instructed us:

«"Do not speak ill of the dead, for they have already reached what they sent forth."»

This noble Prophetic teaching reminds us that once a person has departed from this world, their affair rests with Allah alone. Sadly, many Muslims engaged on social media today appear either unaware of this guidance or choose to disregard it.

It is an undeniable reality that no human being—regardless of their knowledge, scholarship, or status—is free from mistakes. Every scholar, every leader, and every individual has strengths and shortcomings. Absolute infallibility belongs only to our beloved Prophet Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ.

We all err—myself, yourself, and everyone else. Scholarly disagreements may exist and can be expressed with knowledge, dignity, and respect. However, resorting to insults, ridicule, or abusive language against someone after their death is neither a sign of scholarship nor of good character. It is a regrettable departure from the ethics taught by Islam.

As Muslims, our responsibility is to uphold justice, maintain proper etiquette (adab), and speak with wisdom, even when we disagree. Let us leave the judgment of the deceased to Allah, Who alone is the Most Just and the Best of Judges.

May Allah Almighty guide us to speak only that which pleases Him, protect our hearts and tongues from hatred and excess, forgive those who have passed away, and grant us all wisdom, humility, and true guidance. Āmīn.

The Virtue of Fasting on ‘Ashura

“Fasting on the day of ‘Ashura (9th & 10th Muharram or 10th & 11th Muharram) expiates the sins of the previous year.”
— Sahih Hadith, Sunan Ibn Majah 1738

Let us strive to observe this voluntary Nafl fast and seek Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and blessings.

Dr. Ammar Anis Nagrami Denounces Blasphemous Remarks, Calls for Unity and Legal Action

Date 24 June 2026: Dr. Ammar Anis Nagrami, General Secretary of the All India Muslim Intellectual Society, has issued a strong condemnation of the recent offensive, provocative, and irresponsible remarks directed against the most revered personality in Islam—the Last & Final Messenger of Allah, Khatam-un-Nabiyyin (Seal of the Prophets), Rahmat-ul-Lil-Alameen (Mercy to the Worlds), Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

In his statement, Dr. Nagrami asserted that such remarks not only grievously offend the religious sensibilities of Muslims worldwide but also fuel hatred, social discord, and mutual distrust within society.

He underscored that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ holds the highest station of sanctity, reverence, and honour in the hearts of Muslims—a status affirmed by Almighty Allah Himself in the Holy Qur’an:

“And We have raised high for you your mention.”
(Surah Ash-Sharh, 94:4)

When the Creator of the Universe has Himself eternally elevated the remembrance and rank of His Beloved Prophet ﷺ until the Day of Judgment, no individual, group, or power on earth can diminish his honour and dignity in the slightest measure. History stands as a witness: while blasphemous attitudes and provocative statements may momentarily attract attention or publicity, they can never undermine the grandeur, eminence, or universal reverence that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands.

The All India Muslim Intellectual Society maintains that such statements not only wound Muslim religious sentiments but also jeopardize social harmony, national unity, mutual respect, and the conducive environment essential for progress and development. These irresponsible acts also cast a shadow over India’s global image, fostering a negative perception of the country before the international community.

We further affirm that respect for all religions, prophets, sacred personalities, and beliefs is a fundamental prerequisite of any civilized, democratic, and pluralistic society. Freedom of expression must never be misused as a pretext for promoting hatred, insulting religious beliefs, or making inflammatory remarks against any faith or its revered figures. Such conduct undermines social cohesion and deepens divisions among communities.

Accordingly, the All India Muslim Intellectual Society calls upon the Government of India, concerned authorities, and law enforcement agencies to take strict, just, and impartial legal action against any individual—regardless of religion, community, or social background—who attempts to insult or hurt the sentiments associated with any religion, its sacred personalities, beliefs, or values.

In conclusion, Dr. Ammar Anis Nagrami appeals to all followers of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to respond to such incidents through lawful and constitutional means. He urges those whose religious sentiments have been hurt to file appropriate legal complaints against the individuals responsible and to pursue justice through the established judicial process of India.

He further appeals to the public to refrain from provocative slogans, inflammatory speeches, or demonstrations that could inadvertently provide publicity and encouragement to those who seek to spread hatred, create social discord, and undermine communal harmony. Such elements often thrive on controversy and division, and therefore should not be allowed to achieve their objectives.

Dr. Nagrami also calls upon Muslims to embody the noble teachings and exemplary character (Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ) of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in their daily lives. He encourages the community to make greater efforts to practice the values of compassion, mercy, justice, patience, humility, and service to humanity that were demonstrated by the Prophet ﷺ.

At the same time, he urges Muslims to positively engage with their fellow citizens and present the true message of Islam through their conduct and character. By sharing the Prophet’s ﷺ humanistic teachings, universal values, and exemplary way of life, they can help foster greater understanding, mutual respect, and harmony among all communities.

Finally, he appeals to all citizens of India to uphold patience, wisdom, tolerance, respect for the rule of law, and mutual regard, and to play a constructive role in strengthening the nation’s rich traditions of communal harmony, national unity, brotherhood, and social cohesion.
