NCICON 2026, Dehradun – Special Session:
“Bovine Nutrition & Milk Security – Strengthening the Foundation of Public Health in India”
For the first time in India, the Nutrition Council of India (NCI) brings bovine nutrition—including both cattle and buffaloes—into the national dialogue on nutrition and public health. India produces 239.3 million tonnes of milk (2023–24) with 471 g per capita/day, yet lacks a national framework for milk security. Nearly 22% of milk samples fail quality standards, and disorders like milk fever cost over ₹1,000 crore annually.
This pioneering session will explore the critical link between animal nutrition, milk quality, and human health, laying the foundation for a nutritionally secure India.
