JEE Main Applicants vs NEET Applicants
An interesting interplay seems to be happening between the number of applicants of JEE Main and NEET, the marquee entrance exams for admission to India's top engineering and medical colleges respectively.
If we analyze the past 10 year data we can see that applicants of JEE Mains peaked in 2014 and have been declining since. On the other hand applicants of NEET which had traditionally been lesser than JEE Main have diverged since 2018 and have been continuously increasing.

Trend of declining applicants in JEE Main

Interestingly enough the number of applicants of JEE Main have been going down after steadily rising till 2014 and peaking in 2014 at a whopping 1.35 Million. The numbers have been steadily going down since and currently stand at 0.8 Million. While this may be good news for the lakhs of aspirants, the exam remains intensely competitive with a less than 2% acceptance rate.
