identify Mahatma Gandhi/Bapu;
understand the simple ideas of truth, kindness, peace and cleanliness;
demonstrate one or more positive habits;
participate in a group activity;
express a simple personal promise.
Foundational-stage approach: Keep Gandhi Jayanti experiential rather than historical—children do not need dates, political history or lengthy speeches. The focus should be on values that they can see, practise and experience in their everyday lives.
