128th ЁЯЩПЁЯЩПЁЯЩПЁЯМ╣ЁЯМ╣ЁЯМ╣ЁЯТРЁЯТРЁЯТРЁЯТР

Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti is celebrated every year on April 14 on the birth anniversary of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar or B R Ambedkar. The celebrated Indian jurist, economist, politician and social reformer is not only regarded as the architect of IndiaтАЩs Constitution and one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India but also as a campaigner against social discrimination towards the untouchables (Dalits). Dr. B R Ambedkar was India's first independent law and justice minister, and a vigorous supporter of women and labour rights.

As India celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti 2019, here are a few quotes to remember тАШBabasahebтАЩ BR Ambedkar on his 128th birth anniversary.

1- тАЬUnlike a drop of water which loses its identity when it joins the ocean, man does not lose his being in the society in which he lives. Man's life is independent. He is born not for the development of the society alone, but for the development of his self.тАЭ

2- Men are mortal. So are ideas. An idea needs propagation as much as a plant needs watering. Otherwise both will wither and die.

3- Caste is not a physical object like a wall of bricks or a line of barbed wire which prevents the Hindus from co-mingling and which has, therefore, to be pulled down. Caste is a notion; it is a state of the mind.

4- History shows that where ethics and economics come in conflict, victory is always with economics. Vested interests have never been known to have willingly divested themselves unless there was sufficient force to compel them.

5- Some men say that they should be satisfied with the abolition of untouchability only, leaving the caste system alone. The aim of abolition of untouchability alone without trying to abolish the inequalities inherent in the caste system is a rather low aim.

6- I like the religion that teaches liberty, equality and fraternity.

7- Political democracy cannot last unless there lies at the base of it social democracy. What does social democracy mean? It means a way of life which recognizes liberty, equality and fraternity as the principles of life.

8- Democracy is not merely a form of government. It is primarily a mode of associated living, of conjoint communicated experience. It is essentially an attitude of respect and reverence towards fellow men.

9- For a successful revolution it is not enough that there is discontent. What is required is a profound and thorough conviction of the justice, necessity and importance of political and social rights.

10- However good a Constitution may be, if those who are implementing it are not good, it will prove to be bad. However bad a Constitution may be, if those implementing it are good, it will prove to be good.

April 7 is observed as World Health Day. The day is celebrated under the leadership of World Health Organization to draw people's attention towards the importance of global health. It was in 1948 in Geneva that the first World Health Assembly was held by the WHO and observance of World Health Day was decided on April 7 every year. First World Health Day was celebrated in the year 1950. As part of this day, numerous awareness campaigns and discussions are held. All of these events are related to a particular theme decided by WHO. The theme for World Health Day 2019 is Universal Health Coverage

World Health Day 2019: Theme and SignificanceAcco

to WHO, World Health Day is a chance to celebrate health and remind the world that everyone across the world should have access to health care as and when in need. The movement highlights WHO's aim of a healthier, fairer world. The day focuses on equity and solidarity for raising the bar for health for everyone, everywhere.

The day aims at addressing the gaps because of which access to health is not available for all. The idea is to make health care services accessible to people without making them go through any financial hardships.

With strong primary health care, this goal can be achieved, mentions WHO. Primary health care is referred to whole-of society approach towards health and well-being, targeted towards the needs and preferences of communities, families and individuals.
Authorities and governments need to make an effort in investing in providing quality primary health care to people. Individuals and communities need to be empowered for taking care of their own health.

World Health Day: Maintain an active lifestyle to stay healthy and prevent diseases

Following are some healthy lifestyle tips for adults to live a happy and healthy life, devoid of any illness, infections and diseases:

1. Start with a healthy lifestyle right now and make efforts for a gradual progress.

2. If it has been a while since your last workout, then this is the time to begin with it. Maintain a physically active lifestyle and make exercise a part of your daily routine.

3. For wholesome nutrition, eat a variety of foods. Avoid going on calorie-restrictive diets in the name of weight loss. They may hamper your health and offer only temporary weight loss.

4. Maintain a healthy body weight. This can be done only after following points 2 and 3.
5. Eat regularly, never skip your meals. If you want to control your diet, then work on portion control. Starving yourself can negatively impact your health.

Every year, on , тАЩs or is observed in memory of three freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country.

, , and were hanged till death on March 23, 1931, in Lahore jail by the colonial British.

Born on September 28, 1907 in Punjab in British India, Bhagat Singh is a well-known freedom fighter who was a revolutionary socialist and played a crucial role during the Indian freedom struggle.
Remembering the Indian freedom fighter on his 87th death anniversary, we bring you some of his famous quotes that continue to inspire the nation.

''They may kill me, but they cannot kill my ideas. They can crush my body, but they will not be able to crush my spirit.''

''If the deaf are to hear the sound has to be very loud''
''Revolution did not necessarily involve sanguinary strife. It was not a cult of bomb and pistol.''

''Any man who stands for progress has to criticize, disbelieve and challenge every item of the old faith. Item by item he has to reason out every nook and corner of the prevailing faith.''

тАЬBombs and pistols do not make a revolution. The sword of revolution is sharpened on the whetting-stone of ideasтАЭ

India is celebrating its 70th Republic Day today to honour the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect. It was on 26 January 1950 that Constitution replaced the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of India.

It was on 26 November 1949, that Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly and it came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, marking India's transition towards becoming an independent republic. Hence, 26 January was chosen as the Republic day of India as it was on this day in 1930 the Declaration of Indian Independence (Purna Swaraj) was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress as opposed to the Dominion status offered by British Regime.

Republic Day celebration is always held in New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. The day begins with ceremonious parades that take place at the Rajpath and are performed as a tribute to the country; its unity in diversity and rich tradition and heritage.

is organised by the Ministry of Defence. It commences from the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President's residence), Raisina Hill on Rajpath past the India Gate. The parade showcases India's Defence capability, cultural and social heritage. Twelve different regiments of the Indian Army along with the Navy, and Air Force with their bands march past in all their finery and official decorations. President of India, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute. Twelve contingents of various paramilitary forces of India and other civil forces also take part in this parade.ThereтАЩs also a tableau of states each year, where they show what makes them unique.
