Most students start thinking about scoring 95+ in Class 10 Maths in January — barely three months before boards. By then, syllabus gaps are too deep to fix, revision time is too short, and anxiety takes over.
The students who consistently score 95+ share one common trait — they started right.
If your child is entering Class 10 this April, you have the single biggest advantage possible — time. This guide gives you a realistic, classroom-tested strategy to build a 95+ score from Day One — not from panic mode in February.
1. Fix Your Class 9 Gaps Before Class 10 Begins
Class 10 Maths builds directly on Class 9 foundations. Your Class 10 teacher will re-teach most topics — but these four areas need to be fixed before April:
∙ Coordinate Geometry
∙ Linear Equations
∙ Algebraic Identities
∙ Triangles — Congruency
Spend two to three focused weeks revisiting just these four areas before Class 10 begins.
2. Understand the Exam Pattern — And Practice MCQs Seriously
20 marks of MCQs are sitting right there — and most students walk into the exam having barely practiced them. Coaching centres, school classes and home tuitions all focus on long answers — MCQ practice is almost always neglected.

3. Balance NCERT With a Good Reference Book
NCERT alone is not enough to score 95+. The right balance is 50% NCERT mastery and 50% selective practice from a good reference book like Oswal or relevant sections of RD Sharma.
You do not need to solve RD Sharma cover to cover — use reference books selectively for chapters where you need more practice.
4. Test Chapter by Chapter — Not All at Once
Complete a chapter — then take a dedicated chapter test within one week. Identify gaps. Fix them before moving forward.
Your school periodic tests follow this model well — take them seriously throughout the year. By December every chapter will already be individually tested and revision becomes genuinely fast.
5. Make Notes All Year Round — Your Last Minute Lifeline
Start from Chapter 1. One page of focused notes per chapter — key formulae, important theorems, shortcuts, common mistakes. By December you will have a complete personalised revision guide that no published guide can replace.
