SIMS Donates Books to Tribal School Library on Independence Day

On the eve of the 79th Independence Day, SIMS Lonavala donated around 70 fiction and non-fiction books for children aged 10–15 years to the library of MKSSS Anudanit Adivasi Ashram Shala, Kamshet. The school caters to nearly 400 tribal girls from Classes 1 to 10. The books and the visit were highly appreciated by the students and the teachers.

During the visit, some of the inquisitive students enquired about the role of SIMS and the merchant navy. The team leader, Mr. Biju Baben, provost and an experienced marine engineer himself, narrated real-life experiences from the field of the merchant navy, which could be a successful career choice even for the girls. Dr. Sumit Nanaware inspired students by highlighting the importance of personality development and self-confidence. The initiative aimed to nurture curiosity, encourage reading, and reinforce SIMS’ commitment to education and community engagement.

BTech Batch-12 Passing Out Ceremony

After 4 years of dedication, discipline, and growth at the SIMS campus, SIMS cadets of BTech Marine Engineering Batch-12 have officially completed their training—stepping into the world as qualified marine professionals and future seafarers.

The ceremony was graced by Shri Sushil Mansingh Khopde, IPS (1995 Batch), Additional Director General of Shipping, Government of India, as our Special Guest. His inspiring address reminded the cadets of the responsibility and honour they now carry.

“You’re not just engineers—you are India’s maritime strength and global representatives,” he said, striking a deep chord with all present.

Congratulations to each cadet for making it through the challenges of sea-life training, simulator hours, and campus life with determination and pride.
