~ 2nd June 2026 ~

Today marks four successful years of Dr. Phatik Tamuli's tenure as Principal of Lanka Mahavidyalaya. Under his dynamic leadership, the Institution has witnessed significant academic, infrastructural, research and cultural advancements. Some of the notable achievements during the last four years include :

1. Started celebration of the College Foundation Day.

2. Started Girls' Hostel with 30 seats.

3. Release of the "Theme Song" of the College composed by renowned artist Sri Loknath Goswami.

4. Publication of the "College Newsletter".

5. Establishment of the "Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Ethnobotany and Traditional Knowledge".

6. A Major Research Project has been received under his supervision from DRDO, Defence Ministry, Govt. of India.

7. Re-Accreditation by NAAC and conduct of Academic & Administrative Audit.

8. Registration of the "Lanka Mahavidyalaya Alumni Association".

9. Publication of a Multidisciplinary Online Research Journal "LM Journal of Multidisciplinary Research" and received International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).

10. Allotment of NCC to the College.

11. Introduction of two Six Months Certificate Course on "Borgeet" and "Lok Nritya".

12. MoUs have been signed with various organisations, viz., ICT Academy, Assam Down Town University, UMA Global (USA) etc.

13. Construction of College Entrance Gate.

On 30th May 2026, Lanka Mahavidyalaya organised an 'Invited Talk' on 4th Year FYUGP: Opportunities, Challenges and Future Prospects. The session was delivered by respected Resource Person, Dr. Ranjan Kalita, Principal of Rangapara College (Autonomous). The programme was also graced by another special guest, Mr. Pradip Barman, HoD & Assistant Professor, History Department, Rangapara College. Many student participants mostly from 6th Semester along with students from other semesters, faculty members and non teaching staff attended the talk enthusiastically. Students actively participated in the interactive session with Resource Person. We sincerely express our gratitude to our respected Principal, Dr. Phatik Tamuli for his kind support and encouragement for making this talk a success.

ACADEMIC AND ADMINISTRATIVE AUDIT~

On 16th May 2026, Lanka Mahavidyalaya successfully conducted the Academic and Administrative Audit for the sessions 2022–2023, 2023–2024, and 2024–2025 under the visionary leadership of our respected Principal, Dr. Phatik Tamuli.
The audit was graced by the presence of Prof. Dwipen Bezbaruah, Department of Anthropology, Gauhati University, Chairman, Academic and Administrative Audit, Lanka Mahavidyalaya and Prof. Bhaben Tanti, Department of Botany, Gauhati University, Director, UGC-MMTTC, Gauhati University, Member Secretary, Academic and Administrative Audit, Lanka Mahavidyalaya as esteemed members of the audit team. During the visit, the respected guests attentively reviewed the Departmental PowerPoint presentations presented by the Heads of Departments, followed by visits to various departments and the college library. They also interacted with the Librarian, faculty members, and departmental representatives to assess academic practices, infrastructure, learning resources, and overall institutional development.
The audit process served as a significant platform for academic evaluation, quality assurance, and constructive guidance, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to excellence in higher education, holistic development, and continuous improvement in teaching-learning practices. Lanka Mahavidyalaya extends its heartfelt gratitude to all members of the college family teaching staff, non-teaching staff, NCC cadets and student union members for their sincere cooperation, dedication, and collective efforts in making the Academic and Administrative Audit a successful and meaningful endeavour.

'বাণিজ্য আৰু সাংস্কৃতিক মেলা'

On 11th, 12th & 13th May 2026, Lanka Mahavidyalaya successfully organized its first-ever Trade Fest. The fest aimed to promote entrepreneurship, creativity, practical business learning, and support local products and small-scale businesses. With around 36 stalls over three days and an overall income of more than ₹2 lakhs, the event became a vibrant platform for student participation, leadership, teamwork, and community interaction. The event was inaugurated by our respected Principal Sir, along with Academic Coordinator (Arts) Dr. Indramohan Hazarika, Academic Coordinator (Commerce) Shri Amal Bhowmick, and IQAC Coordinator Shri Lalit Sonowal. Organized and led by the Lanka Mahavidyalaya Students’ Union 2025–26 under the leadership of President Sanu Debnath, G.S. Pranatosh Debnath, Cultural Secretary Prarthana Devi, and other members, the fest marked a significant step in enhancing entrepreneurial awareness and practical learning on campus. Its success was made possible through the support of faculty members, non-teaching staff, volunteers, participants, local businesses, and sponsors.

On 09.05.2026, the Department of Bengali, Lanka Mahavidyalaya celebrated 165th Rabindra Jayanti with great enthusiasm and respect, honoring the birth anniversary of the legendary poet Rabindranath Tagore. The event began with Banti Prajwalan by our respected Academic coordinator, Arts, Dr. Indra Mohan Hazarika, Academic Coordinator, Commerce, Amal Bhowmik and IQAC Coordinator, Lalit Sonowal whose presence and encouragement added to the spirit of the occasion. The event was anchored by Mistu Das, a student from 6th semester. The celebration featured a colorful mix of poetry recitations, soulful Rabindra Sangeet, and graceful dance presentations by students. The intense support and guidance of Mrs. Nahim Mazumder, HoD and Associate Professor, Dept. of Bengali played a crucial role in organizing and executing the event successfully. The event featured beautiful singing and dancing performances by both teachers and students. Special gratitude to our Principal Sir, Dr. Phatik Tamuli for his constant support in making this event a grand success.

CLEANLINESS DRIVE 2026 🌿🍃
Keep our Campus Clean and Green

On 3rd May 2026, A cleanliness drive was successfully organized by the Lanka Mahavidyalaya Students’ Union with the support of the NCC.
The initiative aimed at maintaining a clean, healthy, and eco-friendly campus environment. During the drive, the entire college campus was thoroughly cleaned, including common areas and surrounding premises. Along with this, a plantation drive was also conducted to promote environmental awareness and sustainability among students.
The programme was carried out with dedication and cooperation, contributing towards a better and greener campus.

On 27th March 2026, an Awareness Programme on “Social Evil and Legal Consequences of Dowry” was organised by the IQAC of Lanka Mahavidyalaya. The session was delivered by resource person, Mr. Gojen Daimari, Assistant Professor and HoD, Department of Political Science, Lanka Mahavidyalaya. A total of 85 participants, including faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students, attended the programme, making it a meaningful and successful event.
