Welcome to Sekhalipur High School
Sekhalipur High School in its present Status had to overcome several stags as one of the prime institution of learning with in lalgola block jurisdiction in murshidabad district. It open as aprimary school on 1st January, 1909 when Md. Soleman led the school as its frist headmaster.Later, three respected leders of the neighbouring villages, the late Sitanath Roy, Rakshapada Roy , Md. Matabbar Mandal , Who are known for philenthropic work donated land or further extension of the school, keeping general wellbeing of the villages in mind.
In 1950, the school was raised to an ME school (VI). It was headed at the time by Anath Bandhu Haldar. However, the revier Padma the had always cust and evil eye upon on the school, swallowing large swathes land in the mindless fury , Such unuqual fight notwithstding, the river's fury could not vanquish the aspiration of the school authorities and the sprit of the people in spreading education and enlightment among illiterate people of the locality. And to the modest, the school takes pride in being the frist Govt. Recognised school under Lalgola police station. With the passage of time, the school has changed its place four times to save it cell from the ravages of the river Padma. The present site of the school at Pustampur, considered a safer place for building a big permanent structure is the fifth edition of the school.
In 1954, The school under the Headmastership of Nilkanta Mukherjee gained the D.I. of school's approval to hold Classes upto Class VIII. The frist Headmaster of the School in that new set-up, Later non as juniour High School, was Aswini kr Chakraborty. 14 teen years later in 1968, the school received a further shot in the arm when it was upgraded to class X school, thus became eligible to prepare students for school final examination, the frist Board Examination.Jaikrishna Sukul headed the school during that tradinional phase.The Year 1970, Which saw the opening of a violent chapter in the political, social and academic life of Bengalees had also left and imprint on our school,given it a body blow not to head easily. The school became a victim of rampant vandalism by miscreamts, Who had set fire to the valueable papers, documents and books, thus wiping out the remnants of the school's earlyst records and histroy forever.
In 1990, the then headmaster Md. Badruzah took special efforts to purchase the present plot of land for building the school's new construction. Eight class rooms ware built as an annexe to the existing structure. Meanwhile in 2000 an ex student Zohak Ali did a signal service by mobilising his influence to get the school affiliated to West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education for opening its Higer Secondary Section.
In the same year the new school building along with High Secondary course was formally inaugurated by the then member of perlament Md. Jainal Abedin. The H.S. section with science and arts began to function simultaneously thus givening the much needed boost to the quality education for local student to avail of. English teacher SAHIDUL ISLAM had taken frist class in XI , formally beginning the class room teaching for H.S classes in that day.
The school's new wing at present is housed in two huge buildings, thanks tothe monetory grant from SARVA SHIKSHA MISSION. The institution, having completed its centenary year in 2009 is aiming for bigger achievements in years to come. The school's centenary ceremony was inaugurated by Internionally acclaimed Economicst Sri Amiyo Bagchi.
The present head of the institution Md. Sahin Sarafi have in taken over the Charge, is putting his best efforts to effect allround development of the school. The usual subjects appart, Geography, Sankrit and Economics have been introduce in the H.S. section. A scheme is in the pipeline to include computer, home science, Arabic and Education in the + 2 curricula .
