The German Consulate General Mumbai says there is currently a significant number of student visa appointment registrations and a long waiting list.
Appointments from the waiting list are allocated in chronological order as new slots become available.
⚠️ Important: Your university starting soon does not automatically qualify you for a special or emergency visa appointment.
If your appointment falls after your course start date, contact your university and ask about the latest permitted arrival date or late-arrival options.

🇩🇪 “AfD will ban foreign students from Germany?”

You may have seen this claim circulating on social media.

But before making a decision based on a viral post, understand the difference between illegal immigration, legal immigration and studying in Germany.

The AfD supports much stricter immigration policies, particularly against illegal and irregular migration. It also advocates a more selective and controlled approach to legal immigration.

But that does NOT mean that foreign students have been banned from Germany.

🎓 A student who is legally admitted to a university, obtains the required visa/residence permit and follows German law is not an illegal immigrant.

Most importantly:

A political party’s position ≠ a new law.

So, yes — Germany’s immigration debate is changing and future policy developments should be watched.

But “AfD is gaining support, therefore foreign students cannot go to Germany” is not an accurate conclusion.

📌 Check the actual law. Not just the headline.
