Schools to Reopen in Kashmir After Winter Vacation; Government Issues Fresh Schedule

Srinagar, February 13 (NK): The Government has announced the reopening schedule for schools across the Kashmir Division and winter zones of Jammu following the conclusion of the winter vacation period in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Government Order No. 665-JK (Edu) of 2025 dated November 25, 2025, educational institutions will resume in a phased manner to ensure a smooth transition back to academic activities.

For students of Classes 9th to 12th, the winter vacation will end on 22 February 2026, and schools will reopen from 23 February 2026. For Pre-Primary to Class 8th, the vacation will conclude on 28 February 2026, with classes scheduled to resume from 1 March 2026.

The order further directs teaching staff to report back to their respective schools on 20 February 2026 to make necessary academic and administrative arrangements ahead of the reopening.

The move is expected to restore academic momentum across the Valley, including key educational hubs in Srinagar and remote areas such as the scenic Lolab Valley, where winter conditions often affect regular schooling. Authorities have urged institutions to ensure full preparedness for the smooth conduct of classes as students return after the winter break. —(NK)
