Army Goodwill School Chandigam Lolab "AGS Chandigam: Empowering Education in the Heart of Kashmir Valley" The school has a Principal, 28 teachers and 09 non teaching staff.

The Army Goodwill School Chandigam (Lolab) was est in the yr 2000 under Sadhbhavana upgraded to class 12th & recognised by Jammu & Kashmir Board of Education in the year 2015-16. It is being administrated by 28 Rashtriya Rifles(JAK RIF) under the guidance & assistance of Headquarters 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and HQ Counter Insurgency Force (K). The school aims at the overall development of child

ren’s personality with exposure to National culture and traditions. The school is having 791 students from Nursery to class XI and has earned such a good reputation in the remote and border area of Lolab Valley that students are coming even from blocks of Sogam, Wowura, Krusan, Khumriyal & Kupwara. The School is affiliated to CBSE from Nursery to class VII and Jammu & Kashmir Board of Education Department from class VIII to class XII. To meet the dual requirement of imparting education & providing opportunity for employment, a large No of locals have been employed as teachers & administration staff which has helped enhance the goodwill of Army. The school is very popular for its well structured syllabus, teaching methods & availability of infrastructure including computer laboratory, science laboratory & Hindi classes for all round development of children of Lolab Valley. Fees charged from students is nominal with respect to the quality of education provided to the students. The motive behind running the school being “AWAM KI TARAKKI” & hence the fee structure is kept reasonable. For the conveyance of students, five buses are being hired every year. Conveyance charges from students are nominal, and thus, shortfall for hiring charge of school buses is paid through Sadhbhavna Funds

The factors motivating the AWAM of Lolab to enroll their children in AGS, Chandigam is not only the quality of education but multifaceted personality development features including provision of sports facilities, celebration of Annual Day, Republic Day, Independence Day, Annual Sports Day and Picnic/Excursion. The establishment of Army Goodwill School is thus, a successful effort to contribute towards enhancing literacy and overall development of Lolab. All the prominent personalities of the region including political leaders, village elders & common man in the region are happy as they have a dependable school where the future of their children is secure and employment opportunities are act to the educated youth of the area. The ultimate aim of Army is not only to eliminate terrorism but to win hearts & minds of people & regain trust of AWAM. SCHOOL HISTORY OF AGS CHANDIGAM


Education is the most important social service having direct co-relation with the welfare of the human being. Assuring an optimum level of physical and mental wellbeing has been the commitment of all the development processes in any institution and thus entails attention to social aspects of development particularly education. Realizing the importance of education AGS Chandigam was established in year 2000 and upgraded every year under successive Operation Sadbhawana. It is being administrated by 28 RR Bn (JAK RIF) under guidance of Headquarter and Sector RR and Headquarter Counter Insurgency Force (CIF). Around 800 students are enrolled in the school. The school is affiliated to CBSE board from class Nursery to 7th and J&K BOSE from class 8th to 10th.Recently AGS Chandigam has been upgraded till class XIth and XIIth by J&K BOSE. AGS Chandigam is an institute par excellence with an objective of providing quality education to the children. Chandigam Celebrates the 80th Independence Day with Excellence and Glory

Army Goodwill School (AGS) Chandigam celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India with immense enthusiasm, patriotic fervour, and a deep sense of pride. The occasion brought together students, teachers, and the entire school community to honour the nation and commemorate the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid the foundation of a free and sovereign India.

The AGS Chandigam March Past Contingent secured First Position at the Zonal Level during the Independence Day celebrations held at Government Degree College (GDC) Sogam. The contingent delivered a highly impressive performance, demonstrating exceptional discipline, precision, synchronization, coordination, confidence, and team spirit.

In recognition of this outstanding achievement, the contingent was felicitated by the Hon’ble SDM Lolab. The accomplishment brought great honour to AGS Chandigam and reflected the dedication, rigorous practice, and commitment of the participating students and their teachers.

Adding another proud dimension to the celebrations, the NCC Girls Contingent of AGS Chandigam participated in the Independence Day March Past at DPL Kupwara. The cadets demonstrated excellent discipline, confidence, coordination, precision, and parade skills.

Their confident participation and impressive performance reflected the values of discipline, leadership, courage, teamwork, and responsibility that NCC seeks to instil in young minds.
