Republic Day _ 26th January 2026
Dear teachers,students and respected citizens
Asalamualikum,
On the auspicious occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India, I extend my heartfelt greetings and warm wishes to all the teachers, educators, students, and citizens of District Kupwara.
This historic day reminds us of the supreme sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and the visionary leadership that gifted us a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic Republic governed by the Constitution—an eternal symbol of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
As teachers and nation-builders, we shoulder a sacred responsibility. It is through our classrooms that constitutional values are nurtured, democratic spirit is strengthened, and enlightened citizens are shaped. The role of a teacher goes far beyond imparting knowledge; it is about moulding character, fostering unity, and instilling patriotism with a sense of duty and discipline.
On this proud day, let us reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the ideals of the Constitution and to the cause of quality education, social justice, and national integration. Let us work collectively to empower future generations with knowledge, values, and confidence so that India continues its journey towards progress, peace, and prosperity.
I salute the dedication and resilience of the teaching fraternity, especially those serving in challenging conditions, for their selfless contribution to the nation.
Jai Hind!

PRESS NOTE
The Jammu & Kashmir General Line Teachers’ Forum (JKGLTF), District Kupwara, today held a detailed, hour-long meeting with the Worthy Chief Education Officer, Kupwara, during which several serious and long-pending issues confronting the teaching fraternity were discussed threadbare and in clear terms.
The foremost and most pressing issue taken up in the meeting was the long-overdue transfer of teachers from hard zones to soft zones. The Forum forcefully highlighted the extreme hardships, prolonged stay in difficult terrains, harsh climatic conditions, and genuine personal and family difficulties faced by teachers who have been serving in hard zones last year JKGLTF made it unequivocally clear that continued neglect of this issue is causing severe physical and social distress among teachers, which ultimately affects the quality of education.
The Worthy CEO, Kupwara, gave a patient, attentive and receptive hearing to all the issues raised by the Forum and assured that the matter of hard-zone to soft-zone transfers will be addressed on priority, in consultation with all concerned stakeholders, so that a fair, transparent and humane solution is ensured.
The Forum also strongly impressed upon the Worthy CEO that teachers who have already been deployed or rationalised at particular institutions must not be redeployed or re-rationalised back to the same previous schools. Such repetitive deployments defeat the very purpose of rationalisation and deny legitimate opportunities to other deserving teachers who are waiting for deployment or are in genuine need of adjustment. JKGLTF categorically demanded that equity, rotation and justice must be the guiding principles in all future deployment and rationalisation exercises.
The delegation was led by District President JKGLTF Kupwara, Mr. Jaffar Jehangir, and was accompanied by other senior executive members of the Forum, who jointly reiterated their resolve to safeguard the rights, dignity and welfare of teachers.
JKGLTF, District Kupwara, hopes that the assurances given by the Worthy CEO will translate into timely and concrete action on the ground, failing which the Forum will be constrained
to explore all democratic means to seek justice for the teaching fraternity.
