Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum condemns the recent remarks of Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Dr. Asgar Hussain Samoon in which the officer has once again drawn an illogical conclusion by comparing the Government school teachers with private school teachers without taking due consideration of facts.
The forum leadership which met to delibrate upon the issue has strongly reacted to the statement given by the Principal Secretary. In a press statement issued by the media and publicity wing of JKGLTF, the forum described the statement given by the officer as " uncalled for". The forum said that the statement is misleading and creates a lot of chaos and confusion both among the teaching fraternity and public circles. The statement further reads that the J&K GLTF has been pleading for many student friendly reforms like common curriculum, upgradation of school infrastructure, accountability at primary school level, honest administrative setup at zone/district/division level, and lastly transparent and merit based career progression of dedicated teacher since last six years that is falling on deaf ears. At a time of covid pandemic when government teachers have gone miles ahead of their comfort to reach out to students in the state and private school teachers were forced to take virtual classes, yet our worthy officer seems to be wearing dark coloured glasses, unable to see these initiatives. We request worthy Principal Secretary to kindly check facts before issuing any unpleasant remarks against teachers.
