Ciril's IELTS I am Ciril J Thundiyil, a British council & IDP certified IELTS trainer offering Online One-to-One classes. I did my graduation in Vocational English from St.

Berchmans College Changanacherry with copy editing and magazine journalism as core subjects. Later, I did my Master of Social Work (MSW) – Medical and Psychiatry after which I started working as a counsellor making me realise the effectiveness of one-to-one mentoring. It was in 2011 that I had my first exposure to the training field when I did a one-year Diploma course in Guidance and Counselling

at NCERT (Regional Institute of Education, Mysore). I have been taking offline IELTS classes in various language training institutes since November 2017 and by mid 2020 started taking classes online(Ciril'sIELTS). Certification from the British Council and IDP Australia were obtained when I attended the British Council's Master Class for IELTS trainers and the IDP's IELTS Teacher Training Program. It was found that the writing module was tenuous for most of the students and multiple attempts were necessitated because of low bands obtained in the writing module. Therefore, from the very beginning of my career as an IELTS trainer, I have been focusing more on the writing module - both IELTS Academic and General Training. . At the same time, it was made sure that the other modules namely speaking, listening, and reading were not compromised. (A maximum of 8 students at a time)

IELTS partners (British Council, IDP, and Cambridge) are permanently phasing out the traditional paper-based exam globally.
Starting mid-2026, all IELTS tests will shift to computer delivery, though a hybrid "Writing on Paper" option will remain available in select markets(India)for candidates who prefer to handwrite their essays.The shift to fully digital testing brings several advantages and updates for test-takers:

*Faster Results: Computer-delivered results are typically available in just 3 to 5 days, compared to 13 days for paper.

*One Skill Retake (OSR): If you are unhappy with your score in one section, you can retake just that single module without needing to sit for the entire exam.

*The "Writing on Paper" Hybrid: In certain regions, you can choose to complete the Listening and Reading sections on a computer while handwriting the Writing portion.

*SELT Exception: If you are taking the Secure English Language Test (SELT) for UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) purposes, it is only available in the fully digital format.

In India this transition will happen by September.
