The service minded Ragunatha Samy Rao, Rawbahadur T.Gopala Rao, Subaraya Chettiar worked hard for the growth of our school. The Philanthropic land lord and then Chairman of Kumbakonam P.Thambusamy Mudaliar had given his fertile banana groves at a low cost. Only on that place, our school buildings stand majestically and beautifully. Porter, who was the Principal of Government College, laid a foun

dation stone for the main Block on 29.12.1881. Under the guidance and supervision of the munificent personality Mr. Thambusamy Mudaliar, the brain Block was constructed in 1892 and it was opened by Dr. Dungan, the Director of School Education- V.Srinivasa Iyer, Sadhu Sesha Iyer, V.Krishnasamy Iyer, Veerasamy Iyer and A.C. Narayanasamy Iyer played a significant role in adding fame and name to our school. Our School committee has provided 120’x90’ area of land graciously to construct Porter Town Hall as a mark of respect to the invaluable services rendered by Porter to our school. Many new Blocks were built after 1905, and our school was upgraded as Higher Secondary from 14.07.1978 onwards.
