Under the nationwide awareness campaign “Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyaan,” a debate and discussion programme was organized at Govt. Higher Secondary School D.H. Pora on 06/May/2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff members. The event aimed to create awareness among students regarding the growing menace of drug abuse and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole.

Students from different classes participated in the programme and shared their views through speeches, debates, and discussions. The participants highlighted how drug addiction not only affects physical and mental health but also destroys careers, relationships, and social harmony. They emphasized that the youth are the backbone of the nation and that safeguarding them from substance abuse is essential for the progress and prosperity of society.

During the discussion, students spoke about the causes leading to drug addiction, including peer pressure, stress, lack of awareness. They also suggested various preventive measures such as proper counseling, parental guidance, awareness programmes, sports activities, and community participation to help eradicate the menace of drugs from society.

The speakers stressed the importance of collective responsibility and urged everyone to work together in making the country free from drug abuse. Teachers also addressed the gathering and encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyles, stay focused on education, and spread awareness about the harmful consequences of narcotics among their peers and communities.

Plantation Drive at Govt. Model HSS D.H. Pora

A plantation drive was successfully conducted at Govt. Model Higher Secondary School D.H. Pora on the school campus with great enthusiasm and active participation of students and staff. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage the habit of tree planting among young learners.

On this occasion, the worthy Principal addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance. He emphasized that planting trees is not just an activity but a responsibility towards nature and future generations.

His speech inspired students to take active steps in protecting the environment and to contribute towards a greener and healthier society.

Students and teachers planted various saplings within the school premises and pledged to take care of them. The program concluded with a message of environmental conservation and sustainable living.

A grand superannuation function was celebrated today( 28/03/2026) at Government Model Higher Secondary School, D. H. Pora, in honour of Mr. Hameeduallah Thoker, Library Assistant, on the occasion of his retirement after years of dedicated service.

The programme was graced by distinguished guests including Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kulgam, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) D. H. Pora, and the worthy Principal of the institution, Khalid Amin Kohli.

The function began with a warm welcome address, followed by speeches highlighting the remarkable contribution of Mr. Thoker towards the academic and literary environment of the institution. Speakers praised his sincerity, discipline, and commitment to nurturing a reading culture among students.

The honoured guest, CEO Kulgam, appreciated the invaluable role played by library staff in shaping young minds and acknowledged Mr. Thoker’s lifelong dedication to education. ZEO D. H. Pora also shared heartfelt words, recognizing his service and wishing him a healthy and peaceful retired life.

Principal Mr. Khalid Amin Kohli, in his address, expressed deep gratitude for Mr. Thoker’s unwavering service and described him as a pillar of the institution whose presence will be greatly missed.

Colleagues and students also shared their experiences and memories, making the occasion emotional and memorable. As a token of love and respect, Mr. Thoker was presented with mementos and gifts.

Parent-Teacher Meet at Govt. Model Higher Secondary School D H Pora

A Parent-Teacher Meeting was successfully organized at our institution, Govt. Model Higher Secondary School D H Pora on 27/03/2026. The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen the bond between parents and teachers and to discuss the academic progress and overall development of students.

A large number of parents attended the meeting and interacted with the teachers. Teachers shared valuable insights about students’ performance, attendance, behavior, and areas needing improvement. Parents also gave their feedback and suggestions for the betterment of the school and students.

The Principal of the institution Mr. Khalid Amin Kohli delivered an inspiring speech, which was highly appreciated by all. The speech highlighted the importance of cooperation between parents and teachers, discipline among students, and the role of education in shaping a bright future.
