Eid-ul-Zuha Greetings

Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers Forum (JKGLTF) District Kulgam extends warm and heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah in general , and the teaching fraternity in particular, on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha (Eid al-Adha).

This sacred festival reminds us of the supreme sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and his unwavering faith and submission to the will of Almighty Allah. It is a day that symbolizes devotion, compassion, and sacrifice, and encourages us all to uphold the spirit of brotherhood, unity, and selflessness.

A Grand District-level convention of the *General Line Teachers Forum (GLTF) Ganderbal* was held today at District headquarter Ganderbal, witnessing enthusiastic participation from GLTF members representing all four zones of the district.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an, setting a solemn and focused tone for the proceedings. Representatives from various zonal bodies took the stage, addressing key issues concerning both teachers and students. During the discussions, it was unanimously decided that all pressing concerns would be formally presented to the relevant authorities for timely redressal.
A major highlight of the convention was the nomination of the District Body and Advisory Council for GLTF Ganderbal. The newly framed interim office bearers are as follows:

Additionally, it was resolved that Dr. Shakeel Ahmad and Mr. Arshid Ahmad Mir would represent District Ganderbal in the Kashmir Provincial Body of J&K GLTF as Apex Members, ensuring the district’s voice is strongly represented at the provincial level.
The convention concluded with a vote of thanks from the newly appointed President, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad, who expressed gratitude to all participants for their unwavering dedication to the cause of education and teacher welfare.

This successful event marks a significant step in strengthening the organizational structure of GLTF Ganderbal, reinforcing its commitment for advocating the rights of teachers and students across the district.

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir General Line Teachers’ Forum jointly led by the Provincial President Mr. Anver H. Wani and Sh. Neeraj Sharma called upon the Hon’ble Minister for YSS, Science & Technology, and Food Supplies Mr. Satish Sharma in his office chamber at Civil Secretariat on 13-02-2025. The delegation appraised the honourable minister about the issues and concerns of the General line teachers, who gave patient hearing to the delegation and the issues raised by the members in the Charter were discussed threadbare. Sh. Sharma, the Hon'ble Minister assured the delegation of maximum possible help at his end and promised to play his part in the redress of genuine issues and concerns raised in the charter.

Some of the important issues raised by the delegation are.
1. Establishment of Science Labs in schools.
2. ⁠Science exposure camps for students.
3. ⁠Improvements in sports infrastructure in schools.
4. ⁠Provision of good quality food-grains for MDM to schools.
5. ⁠Raising of GLT specific issues in the cabinet and support such initiatives.

Scores of teachers across the Union Territory were the part of this delegation.

Sakina Itoo in her office chamber at Civil Secretariat on 13-02-2025. The delegation appraised the honourable minister about the issues and concerns of the General line teachers. The Hon'ble Edu. Minister gave patient hearing to the delegation and the issues raised by the members in the Charter were discussed threadbare. Mtr. Sakina Itoo, the Hon'ble Education Minister assured the delegation of maximum possible help at her end and promised to play her part in the redress of genuine issues and concerns raised in the charter.

Some of the important issues raised by the delegation are.
1. Expedition of promotion of teachers to Masters and Lecturers to curb stagnation.
2. ⁠Restoration of Divisional Cadre to master grade post.
3. Transfer policy and ATD loopholes.
4. Rationalisation of teaching posts as per CTR instead of PTR to enable every school gets minimum number of teachers equivalent to the level of school.
5. Creation of sufficient posts of Lecturers in subjects not covered previously.
6. ⁠Revocation of 469 of 2014.
7. Pay anomaly of 2009 and increment issue of 2019.
8. Creation of teachers Welfare Fund.
9. Conferment of Gazetted Status to teachers who are trained PG or above.

Scores of teachers across the Union Territory were the part of this delegation.

Press Release

Today Dated 9th of January, 2025, an extraordinary meeting of Executive Council along with District Presidents was called upon by President JKGLTF, Mr. Anwar Hussain Wani, in which some unanimous and historic decisions regarding the first Elections of JKGLTF were taken with the consent of Executive Council and District Presidents. The meeting was presided over by President Mr. Anwar Hussain Wani and deliberated by all the members of the Executive Council and District Presidents present. The Chief Election Commissioner put up four amendment’s of the Constitution to the Executive Council for deliberation so that the way is paved for smooth, free and fair conduct of first General Elections of JKGLTF. The meeting lasted for four hours in which all the Executive Council members and DP's put forth their respective view points for amendments in the constitution except Srinagar and Ganderbal District (Absentees). The Resolution for amendment’s in the four sub-paras of the constitution was passed with 7:1 Majority, in which 7 district favoured the resolution and only one District (Bandipora) opposed it (Consent of District Pulwama & Bandipora taken online). All the members strongly equivoiced the support to make necessary amendment’s in the constitution at the earliest and elections be conducted in time. The meeting ended with a note that the necessary amendment’s would be made in time and notification for elections would be issued in due time.
