'Exploring different interests at CoVersity helped me discover my passion for mud constructions', Aparna's journey with Aarohi since last 3 years as shared by her mother
We started our open learning journey by quitting her regular school when she was studying in the mid of 6th standard. When I suggested home schooling, my daughter was the first one who said ' No'.
After some discussions, we as a family went and stayed in Aarohi campus for a week to experience the life of open learners/ home schoolers. After a week of stay, I asked my daughter, do you really want to go to school? She said 'NO' with a big smile. Since then, My daughter has been open learning at Aarohi campus.
When we started open learning in the initial days, my daughter told me crying , Amma I feel like doing nothing. Atleast in schools, we have some time table to follow. Here I don't know what to do.
I didn't give any reply but I was just listening to her but in my mind, I was happy that my daughter is thinking about her life.
After some month, one day when one parent asked her, what is the difference that she feels when she attended her regular school and now as an open learner?
She replied, 'In school, my teacher plans my day and here I plan my day'. I remember one April, when we travelling, my daughter said Amma, school going children will long for holidays usually but I don't have such longing because I feel all days are holidays.
Recently, my daughter shared with me, Amma one thing that I am sure now ...that is, If you put me in any part of the world, I can survive '..
