RISE is passionate about raising the aspirations of disadvantaged children through our education programmes. For more information visit www.survival-week.com.

We have a unique model that connects school students in the UK and rural India through our two established education programmes: Yearn to Learn in India and The ROAR Challenge in the UK. In West Bengal, India, where 46% of 10-year-olds are at least 3 years behind their expected reading level, RISE runs a literacy intervention programme called Yearn to Learn, which is free of cost to children most at risk of dropping out of school. The purpose of the Yearn to Learn programme is:
• to improve literacy rates and increase school retention
• to empower students to develop skills and have higher aspirations

In the UK, runs a programme that empowers secondary school students by exposing them to the experience of setting up their own social enterprise and meeting the children they are helping in rural India over video-conference. The ROAR (Reach Out And Rise) Challenge, does this by:
• developing key skills for employability
• actively builds students’ understanding of the social sector and business world. Survival Week is RISE's exciting campaign to raise funds and awareness for students in rural India on our Yearn to Learn programme. It's a simple concept - for one week you give up an item you consider essential, compete with friends and colleagues, make a donation to RISE at www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/survivalweek, and celebrate your successes. It's a fun and engaging initiative, an opportunity to bond with your family/friends/team, take on a personal challenge, all the while enabling access to literacy education for hundreds of students in rural India.

On this memorable day for RISE, the Director of SIP Abacus, Krishnanagar, Ms. Surupa Saha Chitro, along with her team, was present to encourage and support our students.
They awarded scholarships to three girls and also rewarded one boy student with a promise to provide him with the complete SIP Abacus course absolutely free of cost.
Each of these children is a first-generation learner. Despite facing various challenges, they have been able to climb the ladder of success with the support and guidance of RISE. Each of them has scored more than 90% marks. This recognition has been given to encourage these meritorious students to dream bigger, move forward and achieve greater success in the future. On behalf of the entire RISE family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to the Directors of SIP Abacus for their valuable support and encouragement.

We sincerely hope that more kind-hearted people will come forward and stand beside us in the same way, becoming a guiding force and a source of encouragement for our children. We will remain forever grateful for your support and belief in our children.

Some memorable moments of the alumni who attended RISE’s birthday celebration. All the students who passed their Higher Secondary examination between 2011 to 2025 participated in this joyous celebration.
Among them, a few students came forward on stage and delivered speeches and performed dances. Many of these children had never before performed on a big stage. Today, with the support and guidance of RISE, they confidently performed on the stage of Rabindra Bhavan.
Some of these children once found it difficult to speak fluently in front of others. Through regular practice and encouragement, they were able to stand before the audience and esteemed dignitaries at Rabindra Bhavan and share their own experiences and express their love for RISE.
Many of them had never learned dance before. With regular practice and guidance from RISE, they prepared themselves for the stage and presented their performances beautifully.
This achievement fills the entire RISE family with immense pride and joy. We extend our heartfelt love, best wishes, and blessings to all our alumni for a bright and successful future.
