Freedom is not easy.

It means letting go of:

restrictions that feel like security
distractions that look like entertainment
commitments that only feed the ego
people who consume your time
the fear of missing out

And even…
the boredom that comes when all this is gone.

Freedom is not easy at all.

When my father could no longer walk freely,
he once watched an old man pass by and said,

“If only I could walk like him.”

In the ICU he told me,

“Take me home.
Let me sit on my verandah,
in my chair,
with my tea and my newspaper.
I want nothing else.”

How easily we overlook the ordinary —
until it becomes a wish.

Today, I can sit with my chai,
feel the breeze,
look at the mountains —
with nowhere I must rush to.

I may not hike or ride like before.
But I did when I could and doing what I can.
And that is enough.

The world keeps changing.
Strength fades. Seasons turn.

Do what you long to do — when you can.
Appreciate what you have — now.
And honour what you have already lived.

Do not postpone either.

It is urgent.
