Rest in peace, Nithin Raj - our brother, who was victimised by casteist atrocity and discrimination by the faculty members of Ancharakandy Dental College.
Many educational institutions in this country have become spaces of segregation, where caste privilege is protected and oppression is normalised. Students who lack social capital, and who fight against caste barriers to access education as a form of justice, are forced to survive in such hostile environments. Those who are meant to spread knowledge and liberate students instead carry forward their ancestral casteist notions.
We refuse to stay silent. The world is watching and will not forget the injustices done to the sons and daughters of this country. Dear Nithin, you never failed. The system failed you - and in doing so, it failed all of us. We share your anger. Rest in power.
Your memory will fuel resistance.
