SFS Public School, Ettumanoor, has been the latest in the chain of educational institutions dedicated to St Francis de Sales, the Gentleman Saint. The ideals of this Doctor of Universal Love have inspired the establishment of over a hundred schools and technical institutions scattered through metropolitan cities as well as smaller town
s and villages all over the Indian sub-continent. The plan for a school of this genre had been lying dormant in the projects of the Fathers at SFS Seminary, Ettumanoor, for some years. Although the Seminary had shifted to Ettumanoor nearly four decades ago, the school complex began to materialize only in June 2003 when 468 students came to study here from LKG to Std VI. The school has been affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi (No 930529). In the annals of an institution, five years is too short a period to highlight. However, with the passing of years, the school stands poised to cover long periods and to make a name for itself as the premier educational institution in Ettumanoor. The school started functioning in June 2003. The last five years have seen amazing growth both in strength and morale of the school and a remarkable diversification of activities in all directions. While extracurricular activities have assumed a greater role in the year plan, academics have not lost their prime importance. The three R's are still important but additionally more activities aimed at developing the all-round personalities of students have been finding their place in the curriculum. The rush for admissions has become an annual feature at this institution. Admissions to LKG start in January every year whereas seats in higher classes are difficult to secure as all classes are usually full to capacity.
