Calotropis gigantea
It is a large shrub growing to 4 m (13 ft) tall. It has clusters of waxy flowers that are either white or lavender in colour. Each flower consists of five pointed petals and a small "crown" rising from the center which holds the stamens.
Given the potent bioactivity of calotropin, calotropis gigantea has been used as a folk medicine in India for many years, and has been reported to have a variety of uses. In Ayurveda, Indian practitioners have used the root and leaf of C. procera in asthma and also used in bacterial infection, swelling with redness, boils also and shortness of breath and the bark in liver and spleen diseases.

GREAT SCIENTISTS IN BIOLOGY.
PART-1
CHARLES DARWIN.

Charles Robert Darwin born on February 12 ,1809 in Shrewsbury,United Kingdom. He is an English naturalist whose scientific theory of evolution by natural selection become the foundation of modern evolutionary theories.
In 1831 Darwin started a voyage in a ship of British royal Navy ,the HMS beagle. The main aim of the journey was survey the coastal line of South America and chart it harbors to make better maps of the region. During this journey Darwin collected a variety of natural specimens including birds ,plants and fossils. Galapagos Islands were of particular interest to Darwin. The finches he observed there have great importance for formulating his theory of natural evolution.
Upon his return to England in 1836 Darwin continued his work. He studied the specimens and fossils collected from various regions during his voyage.
In 1859 Darwin published his observations about evolution and natural selection in his famous book "Origin of species".
Through his theory he said that all organisms produce more number of offsprings that can with stand on earth. He called it as over production. There is only limited resources on earth. So due to over production there is a struggle for existence between organisms and nature. Darwin also observe that there happens certain changes in the characters of organisms. The changes maybe either favourable or unfavourable to the organisms. Those with favourable variations will survive in the struggle for existence and those with unfavourable variations will destroyed by nature itself.Thus nature makes selection. It is called natural selection. Darwin said that through this continuous process of natural selection new species will form in nature.
He died on 19th April 1882 at the age of 73. He is buried in westminster Abbey in London, England.

Structure of human ear.
The anatomy of ear can be studied under three heads. First is external ear. This part consists of the externally visible pinna, then the earcanal, and eardrum. The second part is middle ear. It is a chamber consists of three bones malleus, incus and stapes.Among this stapes is the smallest bone in human body. The middle ear is connected with pharynx through a canal called eustachian canal.This is to equalaise the pressure on either side of eardrum.
The third part is internal ear which contain three semicircular canals , a chamber called vestibule and a coiled chochlea. The first two parts are related with maintaining equlibrium of the body. Chochlea is related with hearing.

Structure of human eye.
The externaly visible part of eye is a small portion. The remaining part is sunk in the sockets of skull.As a valuable organ the body itself gives some protection to eyes. The position of eye is in such a way that it gets maximum protection.The other protective measures are eyelids, eyelashes,tear, and eyebrows. Sometime you may wonder how eyebrows protect our eyes. It prevent sweat from forehead reaching our eyes.
Human eye is made us of three distinct layers. They are sclera,choroid and retina. Sclera is the outermost layer; choroid the middle one and retina the innermost layer. The front part of sclera is transparent called cornea.The second layer forms a screen like part behind cornea called iris. The small aperture seen in the centre of iris is called pupil. Light enters inside the eye through pupil. There is a convex lens fitted behind iris. It helps to focus image on retina. Lens can adjust the focal length automatically to view near and distant objects.
