Mar Augen Memorial Higher Secondary School(MAMHSS), Chengamanadu, Kottarakara, 2136 school code, is an educational institution of the Malankara Orthodox Church. It was founded in 1980 by His Grace Mathews Mar Coorilos, who has been
called the "Angel Bava." In 2014-15, the higher secondary section was added to the school. The school 320 students, 200 of whom are higher secondary students. The school has 25 teachers and 8 non-teaching staff under the leadership of Principal Mrs Lissy Mol PY.Though the school is run by the Malankara Orthodox Church, it provides education to students regardless of caste, creed or religion. Baselios Marthoma Paulose II. MAMHSS, Chengamanadu, Kottarakara was founded in 1980 by His Grace Mathews Mar Coorilos, the then Bishop of Kollam Diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church. In 1991, His Grace was enthroned as the Malankara Metropolitan and Catholicos of the East, and renamed as Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II and continued to be the manager of the school till the end of that spiritual sojourn on earth in January, 2006.His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II, besides being a versatile theologian, was a social reformer and educationalist. Sensing the requirements of post-independent India, His
Holiness indulged in educational endeavours. His Holiness served the emerging nation by establishing numerous Pre-primaries, Primaries, High Schools, Industrial Training Centres, Teacher Training Centres, Arts and Science Colleges,Nursing Colleges and other professional institutions. The identification with the suffering humanity urged His Holiness to
set up orphanages, hospitals and innumerable other charitable institutions. His Holiness endeared himself to the masses, by possessing a magnetic personality and a golden tongue for oration. The establishment of the school in 1980 by Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Mathews II is the natural culmination and fulfilment of the prophetic words of St.Gregorios of Parumala.
