Other student-visa changes announced
The government is also targeting what it describes as "visa hopping."
Under the announced changes:
Students transferring to another course would need to apply for a new visa.
Students completing one course would generally only be able to move to a higher qualification levelβfor example, a bachelor's graduate moving to a master's.
The government is also increasing scrutiny of courses and providers. Earlier this month, it used new powers to prevent new enrolments in a graduate diploma that it considered was being misused to extend students' stay.
