Today, As we all celebrate the 75th Independence day of our country, We need to ask those born before 1947, to know the pangs of anguish of being enslaved under a colonial rule. For every Indian in those days, it was indeed a Herculean task to fight against those powerful giants - the British. Those difficult times and struggles must not be allowed to fade away from our memories. Hence, DWPS pays tribute to the ones who fought for it, to the ones who held a vision for our country, and to the ones who sacrificed themselves for the same.

Van mahotsav is an annual tree planting movement in India which initially began in 1950. The name Van mahotsav means the festival of trees. It has gained significant importance every year. Millions of saplings are planted across India in observation of van mahotsav. Van mahotsav festival was started in 1950 by Dr K M Munshi , then the Union minister for Agriculture and Food to create enthusiasm among masses for forest conservation and planting trees. It is celebrated in almost all parts of India, but usually begins between 1st July to 7th July. The festival raises the awareness of trees among people and highlights the need for planting and tending trees as one of the best ways to prevent global warming and reduce pollution.
